We have been eating at this location for over 20 years! Even through new ownership the phó is always on point and service great! The selection of meals like laab, fried rice, Papaya salad, etc are traditional and made to perfection! Our kids love it here too!

Make sure you double check your to go orders before you leave. I ordered 4 grilled pork Bahn Mi and they gave me 4 Pate Bahn Mi and I couldn’t do anything since they were already closed once I arrived home. I ate one and wife threw hers away. Will be giving my the two to my Vietnamese friend in the morning.

We had the pho and a banh mi. The broth for the pho was nice and clear and the flavors were rich. The banh mi was delicious, with a delightfully crispy baguette. The pickled vegetables were still nicely crisp, and the roast pork tender.

Amazing place. Choose anything on the menu, it’s always going to be incredible. I came with my 3yo, we shared a meal and I took him to the bathroom after we packed up leftovers. When we came out, the table had been cleaned. I asked about the leftovers, and they had been tossed, but they offer to REMAKE THE FOOD. What incredible customer service. Will ALWAYS be back.

If you’ve read my other reviews, you know I can eat quite a bit, but I was genuinely impressed by the portion sizes at this restaurant. The Pho, which is packed with meat and noodles, was so generous that I couldn’t finish it during my last visit—something that rarely happens to me. I usually stick to the basic Pho Ga (Chicken), but I’ve also tried their craft drinks and appetizers, all of which have been delicious. I particularly enjoy their spring rolls and egg rolls. The spring rolls come with eight shrimp divided between two rolls, making them a standout as particularly large.
The staff is consistently friendly, and the prices are quite reasonable—perhaps even lower than other Pho spots around Des Moines. My only minor complaints are the lack of refillable fountain drinks (soda can be pricey) and the absence of accessible nutritional information on the menu or website. Given Pho’s generally low calorie count, highlighting this could be beneficial for health-conscious diners like myself. In either case, I’ll definitely be back sometime and encourage you all to try it if you haven’t.

Although Pho 888 is not the most famous Vietnamese restaurant in DSM, it’s the place we always visit when we want a quick simple meal, especially during cold winter nights. Located right next to Double Dragon supermarket, the restaurant is own by the same family that also runs the supermarket. This means the ingredients are all super fresh and never runs out of stock (since they can just go next door to get more stuff). As most people know, Pho is judged based on the quality of the broth, and the broth is quite good at Pho 888. We really do enjoy getting a cracked rice dish as well with our meal. There is ample parking, and the service is provided by second generation Vietnamese-Americans, so English speakers don’t have to worry about communication issues.

Iam home sick and a friend brought me the chicken pho and it was the best I’ve ever had! I immediately felt good with a warmth in my chest! The portion was enormous for only a few bucks! Must try if you never have!!!!
