Pietro’s Pizza brings fond memories to families in Portland. Everybody can remember their favorite restaurants when they were a kid, and for many people in Milwaukie, Salem, and Hood River, it’s the delicious thin crust pizzas from Pietro’s. Pietro’s is a great restaurant for hosting birthday parties and celebrations for sports teams, but adults love our pizza as well. We use fresh cheese and toppings with our famous crust and sauce that have pleased the whole family since we opened our doors in 1957. Many people say it’s the best pizza in Portland!
Long-running pizzeria chain with pies, pasta, sandwiches & wings. Some offer mini-golf & laser tag.

But like all things, the pizza just isn’t the same. Not the crispy thin crust I was expecting, but still good. The ranch was exactly how I remember, and there’s nothing better than dipping your slice in it and tasting the ranch-pineapple combo of flavors.
There host was great, took my order for take out and made sure I had every thing I needed before heading out.
That is not the truth. It is less than a third of the size of the other one. It’s like a size of a master bedroom.
But the entire restaurant is all tables. ALL OVER!
I can’t imagine them ever filling them all.Because the children have no place to play in here.
So NO I do not give recommendations for families to come here.Because it’s not a family place anymore for your children. It’s too squishy. They don’t even have SkeeBall anymore. Bummer. Will go to Wunderland for a play place in the future.
I called and placed an order ahead of time we traveled from washougal. I have a child in the spectrum so we like to place to go just in case.
Upon arrival the front cashier was snotty and when she brought out pizza to the table she just dropped the boxes in the table and walked off. -ok we all have bad days….
The icing on the cake was at the prize counter when the girl told my non verbal child “I don’t understand you” in a real snotty bratty tone. I said he’s on the spectrum no need to be rude. Her eye roll could be felt. My other kids 17,14 both had to walk away before standing up for little brother.
It’s safe to say we won’t be back. There was just no need for all the snotty behavior. My husband said there just kids working a minimum wage job but there’s no reason to be rude especially when we were cool from the get go.
There is also an arcade for the kids. It’s not as big as the old one and still has mostly older games, but the kids like it and they are reasonably priced.
The pizza seems to taste better than it used to for some reason. I’m not sure if they changed any recipes, or if it’s just that they are cooking on new equipment that improves the quality. There is still a salad bar that looks much like the old one in terms of options. The beers are also reasonably priced. They even have 2 sizes of pitchers. The small pitcher is about 2 pints worth, and the large is around 3.5-4.
Overall I think the move was positive and gave the business a nice update that was desperately needed.
Right off the bat, we were told it would be over an hour wait for the pizza, despite the dining room being less than half full. That set the tone.
While the kids enjoyed the small game room (which was a saving grace), we headed to the salad bar and were immediately disappointed. It wasn’t well stocked or maintained—several toppings were low or empty, and when I asked for tomatoes, I was told they were out entirely. For $9.25 per salad, we expected much better quality and attention.
Thankfully, our pizzas arrived sooner than expected—about 20 minutes for the small cheese, and shortly after that, the large. Unfortunately, the large pizza was missing the mushrooms. Our server was helpful and had a new one rushed out, which we appreciated.
What stood out most, though, was the lack of cleanliness and attentiveness throughout the restaurant. Tables sat uncleared the entire time we were there. We only saw one busser, who appeared just before we left. And at one point, we noticed an employee sleeping on the patio—not a great impression.
Overall, our experience was lackluster. Between the poorly maintained salad bar, incomplete pizza order, and general lack of attention to cleanliness, it felt like the restaurant wasn’t ready to handle even a moderate crowd. We were hoping for better and left feeling disappointed.
