Another Pueblo restaurant for the elderly who have lost their taste buds. First and last time for me. Extremely slow service. Lost orders. Salty pork chops. Dry ribs. Congealed mayonnaise. Applesauce in a motts container. Microwaved and hard to cut through baked potatoes. It took 15 minutes just to get water to the table and then another 5 minutes for the Pepsi. Customers were joking with one another across tables about how slow the service was and the family of five behind us had their entire order lost after having been there an hour. We almost got up and left but didn’t want to be rude. The food was terrible so we asked the waitress if the chef was new and she didn’t know. My table didn’t get drinks until after we had our salads finished. That’s a long time to wait for first drinks. The wait would have been okay if the food was at least decent but it just was terrible. It was cold as well. I think the waitress just completely forgot that it was there. The waiter at the table next to us was doing a great job with his tables. It feels like we just made a donation to their restaurant because we didn’t eat most of the food and didn’t even bother to take the rest home. What a waste! Such a shame! Pueblo is such a cute town but the caliber of food is lacking and the service professionals need a lot more training. The poor waitress had no idea what she was doing unfortunately. Just a nice young girl who needs to be trained. I still tipped even though I really shouldn’t have. Like I said just a donation to the restaurant cuz nothing was really edible and the service was horrific. Oh well.

Always a 5 star meal, the staff is always great, food is always good and the atmosphere is family welcoming. Ordered chicken fried steak off senior menu. That was a monster meal. The salad and fried okra were an added bonus.
The new 2025 backyard menu is not anywhere as good as the 2024 items. As a BBQ guy, I was disappointed by this years dinner choices. That was pretty disappointing.
Previous occasions
Ribs and pork chop cooked perfectly. Irish pie was true home style comfort food.
The salad always included free completes the meal, I used to get mad offered the senior menu, but realized I’m old and should consider it.
In the last 2 years, this is our kitchen away from home. Family favorites at reasonable prices.

Delicious chicken fried steak, gravy, and fried okra. The broccoli casserole was also great. Tammi was amazing the service was spot on. Even offered me a to go drink. If your around Pueblo try this place. Good ol American comfort food.

The restaurant looks very clean inside and out. Our server was very friendly and checked for specific ingredients for us to accommodate dietary restrictions. Tons of food options. They also have alcohol. I would eat here again.

Thank you GM Rich! It was great to meet you! Keep up the amazing work and keep teaching those chefs to put their foot in the food and we’ll keep coming back!

We stopped at pueblo for one night and wanted to try something new thats not a chain. Every food item we had has mid. The bread was basic, and flavorless, and in less than a few minutes it was cold. Its pretty hard to mess up a quesadilla and they basically accomplished that. The tortilla was hard and barley warm. The quesadilla was soaked in oil and the cheese was disgusting. I added chicken and it basically had 5 small pieces of chicken! My husband had a burger and it was so tiny and nothing special about it. We only ate our food because we didnt wanna waste it, and we had been driving for 8 hours. The only good thing was our waitress was super friendly and nice. Basically this place is for people who dont know what good food taste like.

I wish I didn’t have to give it stars in order to write a review because this experience doesn’t deserve any. The waitress was nice enough but under-experienced, in my opinion. I ordered fried cod, which was delicious, and the portion was too big for me. There were two very large filets so I took one home. It came with a choice of two sides, so I got fried okra and a Cesar salad. The okra was good, but there was so much dressing on the salad that the croutons became sponges, making them soggy. My husband ordered chicken fried steak with French fries and red beans and rice. The steak had soft, under-cooked breading, which we brought to our server’s attention and were met with, “oh, I’m sorry” with no offer to re-do it, discount the meal or anything. He loves chicken fried steak, but he could only stomach about one-fourth of this one. Believe me, he has a healthy appetite. In addition, she never came back to refill our drinks or clear plates from the table. We still had the complementary bread plates on the table when she brought the bill. My food was acceptable, except for the salad. She brought the ticket and told us she would be our cashier and we still had all of the dishes on the table. My fork was filthy, so I needed a new one. I was facing the kitchen and could see at least eight employees, but not one of them would make eye contact. My husband got up and got a clean(er) fork from someone other than our server. She wasn’t in view. I don’t think I have to say it, but it was the worst time I’ve ever had at The Black-Eyed Pea. For the cost of their food, I prefer to eat elsewhere. We don’t go to town that often so this trip was planned and we were looking forward to it. Sad.

All around a decent chain. Veggie options available, but some things really do not need meat as a default that do, that are veggies. Ie. Spinach salad.
Drinks are good. Little butter heavy. It’d be nice if there was an alternative meat patty.
