This is a cookout I have gone to for a majority of my life here. I left NC for a few years and came back to find it changed but was actually excited by this. I’ve never had any issues, and only minor order issues that were resolved quickly by the staff. There’s never been any issues I had at a restaurant that I felt even warranted but yesterday I had an issue that just didn’t sit right with me from the staff. I had never ordered from the second ordering side, and so I was confused that there had at some point added a “second” drive thru and “second” window that I had not seen. I wait at likely the wrong spot for food and the person at the window politely tells me something but is too far from my car for me to hear her so I pull around into the “first” drive thru window and she seems confused about why I’m at her window which is understandable but I explain I don’t know where I’m supposed to go for the “second” drive thru to pick up my food. She informs me there is a “second” window I am supposed to go to. I tell her thanks and pull around to look for this “second” window. Apparently, the window she is referring to is not the window I see as the “second” window I see is the one by what used to be the entrance into the restaurant. I see another car parked there and waiting and as other cars have gone through the “second” drive thru line I assume that’s the “second” window I’m supposed to go through. Up to this point, I completely believe I am in the wrong and the singular employee I’ve been dealing with has been very understanding that I am clearly confused by where to go. The issue comes when I’m waiting by what I assume to be the “second “ drive thru window to see the employee I’ve been interacting with call out to me. Immediately I sense she is frustrated with me and had that been all that happened I wouldn’t have felt the need to write this review. Instead of understanding I may just be confused by this layout, the employee asks in a clearly upset and talking down to tone of voice “Do you not see the window?” During the interaction, it’s clear the employee is upset, and frustrated i am confused by which window to go to. They explain my waiting around in the “second” line initially, going through the “first” drive thru line for clarification, and waiting at what I thought was the “second” window, were all things that frustrated the employee and that the employee was continually trying to “move me along” so I didn’t back up their line. Someone, I assume a manager, was behind this employee and saidnotjing during this interaction, meaning no one seemed to think this was not the way to go about this interaction. I explained that no, I didn’t see the actual “second” window that the employee was referring to and even after I left did not see this window. I appreciate that the employee allowed me to pay for my food at what was actually the “third” window I had mistakenly pulled up to and informed the employee I would not ever be using that “second” line if I came back before leaving. I’m obviously not one to review places, as is obvious by my lack of reviews, but this interaction left a bad feeling with me. (Not to mention my the burger with my tray was missing cheese despite me asking for it). I get that employees have off days, I get that when you’re busy one’s patience may grow thin and this interaction could have actually messed with drive times and ratios and during a rush the employee may not have even had time to deal with me, and I would have completely understood the frustration and tone, but this happened at 1:30 pm. Less than five cars went through the line or ordered, I don’t feel their words or actions were necessary in a scenario well after lunch rush and was simply about a customer who was confused about which window to go through.

I don’t want anything, and I don’t even want any action taken in-store. I suppose this was just me explaining that I’ve been going to this cookout for a while, but this interaction left such a bad taste in my mouth that I don’t think I’ll be back for awhile.

The lady that was running the drive through who was wearing a pink or peach colored jacket and had bows in her braids was EXTREMELY RUDE!! It was right before midnight and the entire time I was ordering she kept saying anything else, is that all, what else?? Then I get to the window and she pretty much slings the bag out the window. Then the drinks. I am sitting there trying to get her attention while her back is turned because we were missing 3 trays and 1 drink. She finally slings open the window and I say we are missing a Dr. Pepper and before I could say 3 trays she had already slammed the window shut again. When she goes to hand me the drink I tell her we are missing 3 trays, she slams the window and I can literally hear her cussing and yelling through the window. I am sitting there waiting for the trays and I need straws and cookout sauce that I asked for at the speaker, for the 3 orders of onion rings. Well she opens the window, slings the bag out and I mean if I wouldn’t have caught it it would have been all over my car as I am trying to tell her that I need straws and cookout sauce. We are regulars that usually go to this cookout 2 to 3 times a month and I have never been treated that way. They weren’t busy and there was no car in front of behind me. I have worked in the food industry for over 20 years so I completely understand that things get stressful and I am always polite and understanding but if you don’t like your job that much and can’t contain yourself when working with the public you should find a different area to work in.

I’m not sure what happened but you gave us food that tasted rotten yesterday. My chicken was burnt and had been sitting for god knows how long. The place was so busy I don’t know how that is possible. Never been so disgusted. For the price of your food you should be ashamed to serve that.

With better options within walking distance… I won’t be dining here any longer. 15 minutes to get through the drive through… and how does this qualify as a chicken sandwich?! Waste of money.

I’m not sure what the name of the employee is that worked the window tonight. She’s typically on the second lane window (cook out is one of my frequent late night eats) when I go around this time. My ticket reads Mackenzie but it could be someone else, nevertheless she has a nose piercing and her hair is in light brown Senegalese twists? Management please take her out her misery and let her go. She clearly hates her job and it shows really bad. She greets guests like we are disturbing her quiet time. She doesn’t read the tickets so we’re constantly having to hold the line for corrections and she behaves as though it is our fault our order is incorrect. Personally, I wouldn’t want that energy around my staff or guests because it transfers. Please advise.

I had a disappointing experience. There was a very long wait to get our food, and when we finally got home, we realized the order was incorrect and had missing items. Overall, very frustrating and not what we expected.
