The old El Adobe restaurant site has been recognized as a California State Historical Landmark. Situated just two short blocks south of the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano and the Train Depot. The building was originally two separate structures. The northern section was originally the home of Miguel Yorba Adobe, built in 1797. The southern half housed the Juzgado (court and jails) and was established in 1812.
Mexican eatery with mesquite-grilled fare has circa-1797 space with wine a cellar, patios & more.

This was a nice Mexican Restaurant. Great Margaritas, tasty Watermelon Margaritas. Table side Guacamole was delicious it was made to order mild or hot whatever is your preference. The Shrimp Cocktail was delicious! Lobster tacos were also very filling and a good size if you are looking for a nice filling lunch meal. This was great place can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!

Been a staple in south Orange County for decades. Food is amazing if you can make it i. For happy hour or taco Tuesday it’s a must. Servers are all friendly. They also have ado up pleat private dinning rooms and a great facility for big events like weddings and special celebrations.

El Adobe is a favorite in our family. I eat here 2-3x a month sometimes more with family and friends! Christian is our favorite waiter and is like family! Every meal is special because the entire staff works so hard to make the food taste so good, the service is amazing and we always love to sit in the bar area because we love the team, big fireplace and patio! Highly recommend for authentic food, exceptional service and a cozy atmosphere. Even held graduation and birthday parties here! They always go above and beyond!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Adobe and I can’t recommend it highly enough! (Side note: This was Richard Nixon’s favorite restaurant, they even have a photo over his favorite seat and offer his favorite meal) From the moment we walked in, the server was friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations. The food itself was absolutely excellent; every dish was bursting with authentic flavor and made with fresh ingredients. What’s even better is that the prices were very reasonable, making it a fantastic value for the quality of food and service. Finally, the atmosphere was just perfect – lively and welcoming, with beautiful decor that really made it feel like a special occasion. If you’re looking for delicious Mexican food, outstanding service, and a great overall experience without breaking the bank, this is the place to go!

We had the most wonderful Wedding for our daughter at El Adobe. From our first encounter with Sianna and Daniel on selecting a date to the day of our event, they were very helpful in guiding us through every detail. So patient with us and answered every question in a timely way. The staff is excellent, the server’s were friendly efficient and engaged with our guests the night of our event. I truly did not need to ask for anything, they seemed to see and know what everyone needed. Our guest’s raved about the food, the comment most said, was so refreshing not to have “typical wedding food” and everyone had options, they even accommodated our child guests with choice of children’s meals.
The use of the delightful Casita was icing on the cake, our bride was able to dress and prepare for her day in this delightful setting, and it made for wonderful pictures too!
The patio setting for their ceremony, perfect for our vision of intimate family and friends. Cocktail hour followed right there on the patio, making the transition seamless. The setting encourages mingling, casual yet elegant feel makes for the perfect venue.
