Japanese specialties served from a sushi bar or hibachi-style with showman chefs cooking at table.

I’ve been wanting to try out this hibachi spot for a while and was able to on Valentines Day with my bestie! Everything about this place was outstanding and definitely is worth the visit. I eat Japanese food all the time and was not disappointed whatsoever. Only downside is that the prices are a bit higher than other hibachi restaurants, but it comes with soup, salad, jumbo shrimp appetizer, and caramelized bananas for dessert!

We went there last night for my niece‘s birthday. Had a pretty big size group. Our servers name was Sage and our chef, his name was Daniel. They were amazing. Everybody had a good time. The food was delicious. They were interactive with the whole group. Sage made sure we never went without a drink. Anything we needed he made sure he stayed on top of it. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. My little girl asked to come back for her birthday next month you guys are awesome

I had dinner here during my ski trip in the area. This is one of worst teppanyaki places I’ve ever been to. They use the same sauce for everything. Vegetable, shrimp, scallop, chicken, beef. In the end, they all taste the same. Very salty side for me. Fried rice was terrible. No eggs. Never had dish called fried rice without eggs. Very little entertainment and show by chef. Overall, I don’t think it’s worth money.

Other than a very long wait, our two large families had a great time. The experience is always fun for the kids and adults, and the food is very good. Service is great too.

Impressed to learn that it’s been a boone staple. Anxious that it has so many mixed reviews. We came in for dinner Sunday night around 8pm. Was seated and food was cooking in front of us perhaps in 20 mins. 6 other tables were full. Wait wasn’t long. Ordered steak and chicken. Don’t expect waygu A5 but considering it was tender and tasty. Enjoyed our self. Food is typical hibachi (teriyaki/salt/pepper) with a side of entertainment.

We went here for a family member’s Birthday and had an extremely large party, 16 or more. They were able to accommodate us at two separate tables which was fine with us. The chef did an awesome job and kept us entertained and laughing. Food was wonderful! They allowed us to bring in our own Birthday cake which was really nice! The only down side was that it was really hot in there. I know it’s hot with all those cook tops going but there was 0 airflow and so stuffy. We were all sweating but it’s worth it for hibachi!!

I went for my birthday lunch and you couldn’t get shrimp and scallop you had to pick one? The shrimp were the smallest I have ever seen in my life and the scallops were also sub oar. Only sauce was cream no mustard or ginger. It’s a giant bunch of rice and carrots. The chefs don’t even do much at all. Very disappointed. I used to love it when went to school there. My salad was the only good thing

Makoto’s is a favorite go to Japanese steak house located in Boone Nc for my wife and I. Our kiddos like the show but fairly picky eaters so we don’t take them. We do see lots of children there when we go enjoying the food and show. We have been several times and does not disappoint. The staff always seems to be welcoming, the chefs are both skilled and fun. I highly recommend giving this a try.

Come to Boone often, but this is my first time at Makoto’s.
Love Hibachi and I’ve been to a few. This one checks most of the boxes. We came at lunch and it was very cold in the building, which I didn’t mind but others in my group weren’t happy about it, so the fire show was welcome.
They were very accommodating with my mother’s allergy to shrimp and considerate to everyone at the table. The soup appetizer was the best I’ve had compared to other hibachi places and the salad with ginger dressing was good as well.
I tried the Shumai (Pork filled dumpling) fried. I’d recommend getting it steamed, however, but it was good. The sauce it came with was a little too salty in my opinion.
Shout out to the Chef, I didn’t get his name but he was a cool dude.
