Had the Coconut Chicken. It’s my new all time favorite meal. This thing is incredible. The sweet creamy coconut sauce is muy perfecto. It’s not a very big portion but it was just perfect for myself.

Always love coming here! Me and my fiance eat here at least once a week The general’s chicken and sesame chicken are the best around, and I love their BOGO boba tea deal that they have going right now. The only pic I have (sesame chicken) is me halfway through my dish because I forgot to take a picture first. My fiance usually gets the yellow curry and also says it’s really good. We always have enough for leftovers which is a plus!

My top three dishes to get here are the bbq pork fried rice, larb, and I actually enjoyed their crispy chicken special. I want to try their pork belly next. The curries are not that special to me. They’re not bad they just don’t stand out if that makes sense. The steak flat noodles is good if there was more sauce to bring the umami. I will say their fried rice is just so smoky I love it. The pad kra pao is also very good.

Cool Basil is one of my favorite restaurants in the Des Moines metro. I’ll even drive down from Ames for dinner here! The food is excellent. I almost always order the beef pad thai, but the menu is quite extensive and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. You can’t leave Cool Basil without some crab rangoons, either! This is our favorite dinner date or double date location! It’s just as good whether dine in or take out.

I’ve had good experiences at Cool Basil in the past, but my recent visit was disappointing.I ordered an entree without meat, and they had to take it back to the kitchen multiple times just to get it right. From the moment they first brought my plate to the final correct one, I had to wait 30-40 minutes.It wasn’t the best experience, especially when you’re dining with kids.

We had lunch here yesterday 2/22/26, but there was a horrible smell coming from the bathrooms… it smelled like sewage and a ton of spray there used to try to “mask it” …
Both my daughter and I couldn’t eat more than a few bites. We all paid and left…
If you visited this weekend I am sure you noticed it too… I was nauseated all afternoon after (yes it was that bad )
They most fix it before it comes a hazard … that can’t be right !

Eight of us arrived at 8 pm (they close at 9) with a birthday cake in hand, and from the moment we walked in, the employees were kind and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. Tried the captain crunch sushi, soooo good (even for first time sushi eaters), the Tom Kha soup was fantastic and our entrees (chicken cashew, basil noodles, pad Thai) were flavorful and filling. So many delicious items on the menu. Highly recommend!!

We usually call our food in and pick it up to bring home, but the workers are always very friendly. The food is outstanding! My wife and I get the Pineapple Fried Rice dinner portion to split because it’s such big portions. Great deal! The Fried Banana dessert is always a must have for us as well!
