I was here about 830pm on a Wednesday. I was the only patron in the restaurant. To be fair, it felt like I was the only person on the street, too.

Anyway, I was greeted warmly when I walked in and had my choice of seats. I was immediately given a menu and my order was taken as soon as I was ready. Service was friendly and prompt throughout my visit.

I came here on recommendation of a coworker based on Dyers history and greasy claim to fame. Inside could be described as vintage if you are bougie, or ick if you’re a germaphobe. It wasn’t particularly dirty, but definitely had an original and well-worn feel.

Anyway, menu is limited as you would expect. I ordered a triple burger with no cheese, plus fries and a drink. Total was around $16 which seemed pretty fair.

Of note, the patties are small and flat. A single would suit a small child very well but be very insufficient for any adult.

The fries were great. Very hot and fresh and didnt have any flavor different from any others as you may have expected here.

Burger itself was…. meh. The patties were tender but not especially flavorful. It wasn’t bad, per se, but given the hype I guess I had higher expectations.

Overall, just ok. Go for the institution, not the food. Probably not worth a repeat visit.

A bucket list visit. I just had to try the famous burgers made in a 100 year+ pan of grease! Beale Street was practically deserted due to the time and date (day before Thanksgiving). I ordered a double double and a glass of local beer.
The burger and beer arrived quickly with polite service. The burger was nothing over the top, but it was very good. Nothing wrong with it at all. I was very pleased. Maybe, if nitpicking, I could say that the meat could be seasoned a bit more. If I came back, I would shake some salt on the meat before digging in. Glad to check this place off, and would have no qualms about returning.

The staff was warm and welcoming when we entered. Our waitress was spot on with the water, milk shakes which were the best. We ordered a chocolate and strawberry shake and we both thought they were the best ever. Next we both ordered the triple burger combo, which didn’t disappoint. Now remember these are deep fried so expect a little grease, just wipe it off with a napkin like we did.
The flavor was awesome with grilled onions, pickles and mustard was prefect condiments to the burger.
Now the hand cuts fries were also great and they use a seasoned salt in them, if you dont want it let your waitress know. For bring able to say we tried it, mission accomplished.
Let’s address the floor which could use a cleaning and the bathrooms as well. Those are my only complaints.

It was neat to visit a restaurant that has been around for close to 100 years! They are known for their deep fried burgers. Good comfort food and reasonably priced, too!

Atmosphere is really nice. Diner style. It’s a staple restaurant on Beale Street. Waitress was very sweet. It took a while for the food to come out. After reading the reviews and seeing 4/5 stars.. I thought we would be in for a treat…not the case. Burger was bland..nothing to talk about…onions, bacon, cheese, mustard squirted on the bun…just all over the place for a simple burger…the famous, freshly cut seasoned fries were not great (if they cut them a little thicker maybe that would do it) and the onion rings were greasy. Scratched that one off our list while visiting Memphis. 20% gratuity added and for what??? Wasn’t worth the money paid. Will not be returning. My homeade burgers taste better.

Very good food! The double burger was great in every way- the bun, flavor, cheese, etc. the chicken tenders and fries were also amazing. The only negative is this food was extremely salty- especially the tenders. The old diner atmosphere was fun to look at.

We found this restaurant on the Memphis Food tour and what a find it was! The burgers are great, deep fried which sounds weird, but actually delicious, as were the fries. We liked our sampling so much we went back the next day. Staff was friendly and efficient. Don’t miss this gem!
