As a first-timer, I ordered the seafood nachos, seafood pot pie, and yellowfin tuna with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The service was excellent my waiter Patrick was attentive and gave great mocktail suggestions.
While the food was served hot and quickly, it lacked flavor. The seafood nachos and pot pie didn’t have the punch I expected, but the tuna, was well-cooked and seasoned to perfection. The sides were decent, but overall, the meal didn’t leave a lasting impression.

We came in to town and wanted to give this place a second try. Food was just as amazing and so was service. Brittany took great care of us. She kept our waters filled, the food coming and checked on us several times. She also made great small talk.
Nice to have a great meal and great service.

I attended a private event in the private dining room at Oceans & Ale, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The Michter’s bourbon pairing was thoughtfully done and complemented the meal perfectly.
The meal was clearly prepared with care and attention to detail.
The private dining space was comfortable and ideal for the event, and the service throughout the evening was attentive without being intrusive. A special shout-out to Ashley, she was engaging, professional, and helped make the night truly memorable. Oceans & Ale absolutely delivered on food, atmosphere, and experience. Highly recommend.

Tasty food, reasonable price & great service. Ahi tuna fish tacos are very flavorful & come in generous portions. Coleslaw is a tad sweet but refreshing. Caesar salad was fresh but dressing could use a bit more oomph. Fish & chips are fresh with good textures & just the right amount of batter. The chips are freshly cooked so you can taste the potatoes made from scratch. The she crab soup is not really special so would recommend skipping that.
Service is very warm & expedient. Great atmosphere with interior decor that promises good quality dining upon you entering the space.
Will return to try other menu items next time.

We’re in town for vacation with the family. We picked this restaurant from the Google ratings and the menu looked fantastic.

The overall experience (5 Stars), after the greeters (0 stars) was fantastic. PJ (aka – Patrick) was 5 Stars. Prior to him, we had Shawna (at the bar) she really saved the experience. We were ready to leave prior to her coming over.

The greeters ( one was Samantha), at least that what she said her name was, showed her inexperience in her youth. When my family walked in, she and the young lady she was with whispered to each other about my daughter’s overall appearance. My daughter is beautiful and her makeup was done up. Maybe they didn’t appreciate it. When we sat at the bar to wait for our table, she removed our name from the wait list. I went back to double check our wait last position and she had to put us back on the book. When our phone went off, my wife heard and saw them say, “That’s them over there.”

Moving on, Shawna with the drinks and PJ and the Chef saved the day. The food was outstanding and affordable. Family of four with soft drinks for under $100, fabulous.

Because the greeters are your forward facing employees, be careful who represents your company when people walk in. From an observation of people, there “appeared” to be some implied bias’. They need that training bad.

“15 to 20 minute wait” was slightly over 10 minutes. GREAT Start! We arrived about 7:15. Server was Alexis and she was very polite and attentive, although she forgot to bring my wine with my meal even though I specifically asked for that. Fortunately the Reisling wine from Virginia tasted like a German Reisling Spatlese, so it was worth the wait. She also was not aware that there are specific fish knives ( I’m sure a little more experiece and training will correct this). Salad was fresh and crunchy. Sea bass was bland, but edible, and mashed potatoes were tasty but barely warm (almost wouldn’t melt the soft butter they gave me on the side!). Good, clean, place to eat, but has a way to go to get 5 stars.

Our recent experience at the new Oceans and Ale was really amazing – definitely a 10! We reserved their private dining room for a birthday event, and it couldn’t have been better. The room was great. The food, as usual, was really good. Ashley and her team took such good care of us. This was our first time in the new location and the whole atmosphere and vibe of the place was really great. This has become our favorite restaurant in the Williamsburg area, and we couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate my wife’s birthday.

If you’re anywhere near Williamsburg, do yourself a favor and go to Oceans & Ale. My fiancé and I are real foodies, and this place absolutely blew us away—so much so that we went back two more times in the same weekend. That alone should tell you everything.

Let’s start with the food:

Pork Osso Bucco – insanely tender, deeply flavorful, comfort food at its finest

12 oz Ribeye – perfectly cooked, juicy, and restaurant-quality in every bite

Mussels – chef-selected and honestly some of the best-tasting mussels we’ve had in a long time

She Crab Soup – AMAZING (yes, all caps necessary)

Seafood Mac – OMG. Rich, indulgent, and unforgettable

And here’s an insider tip you must know: ask for the “employee fries.” They’re more like hand-cut, restaurant-style fries and they are elite. Trust me.

Now for the service—because this is where Oceans & Ale truly shines. Our servers Trey and Terrell were absolutely special: warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited about the food. On top of that, the manager on duty both days, Brittnee G, came to our table and made us feel incredibly welcomed and appreciated. That kind of hospitality is rare and it shows how much pride this team has in what they do.

We honestly did not expect this level of food and service, and we were completely blown away. It is worth the drive, worth the hype, and worth every single bite. Oceans & Ale is the kind of place you keep thinking about long after the weekend is over—and we already can’t wait to go back.

Five stars, all day.

Started out with drinks and appetizers. Excellent selection of beers and bourbons. Lettuce wraps and crab soup for apps. Crab cake dinner and Mahi Mahi for the mains. I have to at the asparagus was over cooked and thin. Everything else was wonderful. Reasonably priced given the quality and what we ordered. We will definitely be back.

Nice new location and great service. Portions are smaller though. Fish tacos only came with two tacos and very light on the fillings. But excellent quality. Wanna see what a real fish taco looks like. The second pic is from The Wheelhouse, Lewes, DE. Now that’s a fish taco, a full fillet!
