I come to this location very late as it is the only place open around 2 A.M.
Despite that, it has some of the best service I’ve had from a McDonald’s. The food can only get so good because of what it is, but they deliever it fast and fresh. Employees are nice, attentive, and put in the extra work to make it feel like it’s MORE than a McDonald’s. And at such late hours? bravo.

We stopped by. To grab food today and we were worried since it was lunch time that our order would be fould up like the south side, altoona, Indianola, and down town have done our meals. But we were super surprised we didn’t have to wait at all and everything was right and perfect!!!! The guest service was great as well. Great job to the crew today! We will be back

So it’s 12:57 on Sunday morning/Saturday night. 10/18/25. I just wanted to give a HUGE shoutout to the crew working tonight’s shift because I was completely astounded. We arrived at around 12:40 & the drive thru line was out to the street and the parking lot was also pretty full. I fully expected to have to watch some Netflix while I waited but I was in & out in less than 15 minutes. Every single person that spoke to us had such a great spirit about them. AND the food was hot!!! They were so awesome. Thank you guys!!

It’s exactly what it is.
A Macdonalds location.
You order your food, and you leave.

I felt uncomfortable/unclean at this location but I couldn’t put my finger on exactly how or why. Nothing seemed out of order.

other perspectives would be nice to elaborate because SOMETHING is amiss, and maybe someone else sees something that I do not?

Other than that, it’s okay, I guess.

Hands down THE best, most consistent McDonald’s I’ve ever experienced. I grew up around NYC area and spent time from Boston, MA down to Miami, FL. Now I’m living in Des Moines, IA and I can honestly say without question this is the best McDonald’s location. Every time, never disappoints, i can count on this location no matter the time or day. Big thank you to the hard working employees here that make my late night drive thru experiences more than just my standard expectations. Love this McDonald’s and hope nothing changes at this location.

store does great most of the time, i paid with a 100$ bill and the cashier rang it up as 50$ and didn’t give me full change, GM wasn’t on staff that day so i came back, still not there so i left my name and phone number and they copied a copy of my receipt so he could watch the video footage of me handing them a 100$ bill, and i was told he would be in the next morning, came in next morning and he wasn’t there again, shift lead texted him and told him to contact me.

it’s not about the money, it’s only 50$, but i manage a multi million dollar per year shop myself and i can’t imagine having an issue that can be solved in under 30 seconds taking days and not reaching out at all, after being texted and receiving notes and copies and multiple visits. Super unprofessional. kind of silly that a grown man can’t get his priorities together.

Ordered a nugget meal and quarter pounder meal. No honey bbq sauce that I asked for which I can accept however, they took the bag back after handing it to us to do something with it. Took the fries back out apparently and left us with no fries with the meal. Ordered two Big Mac meals – was asked twice at the second window after paying what my order was. After 20 minutes of waiting they asked me to pull up to the third window. Does this look like a Big Mac to you? Looks like a double cheeseburger with an extra bun??? No special sauce, lettuce etc. very unfortunate won’t eat here again.

I had an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience at this location. I arrived well before dark and placed an order for two meals. After more than 40 minutes of waiting — with no updates and no apologetic communication — I still had not received my food. It was getting dark and I had to leave the premises to bring my geese and chickens inside; when I left my order was still not ready.

When the order finally arrived it was cold, and the coffee I paid for was missing (staff initially tried to claim that was “all of it” and did not provide the coffee). The remainder of the order was delivered cold, and the advertised “large fries” were nearly empty. The food was never remade.

During my wait I observed multiple serious issues that directly affect food safety and customer welfare:
• Staff AND A MANAGER handling food after smoking without washing their hands.
• A visible leak inside the store, near customer and food-prep areas.
• Filth, clutter, and overall poor cleanliness throughout the premises.
• Actual bugs on the premises (I personally saw insects in the dining/prep area).
• Inconsistent and dismissive customer service; staff were unprofessional when complaints were raised.

These are not minor complaints — they are significant sanitation and health-code concerns. Waiting over forty minutes for two simple meals only to receive cold, incomplete food that may have been handled under unsanitary conditions is unacceptable.

Requested actions and expectations:

I expect a full refund immediately (the food was never remade and I did not receive the coffee I paid extra for and only GOT AFTER COMING IN AND ASKING FOR IT WHEN SHE SAID HERE IS YOUR ORDER, she lied).

I request that management investigate this incident and retrain employees on hygiene protocols (including handwashing after smoking).

Immediate professional pest control treatment and a thorough professional cleaning of the facility.

Repairs to fix the leak and any other maintenance issues that impact sanitary conditions.

Improvement of customer service protocols so complaints are handled professionally and fairly.

A direct, written response from management explaining the corrective actions taken and what will be done to prevent recurrence.

If I do not receive a satisfactory response and refund, I will report these health and safety concerns — including the smoking and handling of food without handwashing — to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Iowa Department of Public Health, and my local health department.

Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this location.

I am so sick of coming here after work and dealing with how unbelievably rude the staff are. I just dealt with rude people at my job all night and get off work, try going through the drive thru and not only was the lady extremely rude when I was trying to order but she then cuts me off in the middle and tells me the total and to come to the next window. I tried telling her over the drive through speaker that I wasn’t done ordering yet and she had already disconnected it so I pull up to the second window and tell her I was still trying to order and she signs real loud and goes “Seriously?” with the biggest attitude. Like yea obviously seriously. I said yes and she goes “Oh my god” and at that point I just pulled off because it was evident she did NOT want the rest of my order and I don’t want spit in my food. The night staff here being rude is an on going issue. I just had a bad night at work with people being rude the last thing I want to deal with is someone being extremely rude to me and making it almost impossible to order and treating my like I’m some type of inconvenience. And I was not rude to her once. Seriously get better employees because this is BEYOND old.

Have been waiting at the second pickup window for one burger and fries for half an hour. They keep directing other cars to the other pickup spots and they are getting food and leaving. I’m not sure how a cheeseburger and fry takes half an hour with no one in front of you in line, and no one ever comes to the window to update you like hey we’re having a maintenance issue or something. Myself and this girl behind me just live here now I guess.
