Reviews
The service was amazing my two servers were attentive and just good people. No fault to them at all.
The crème brûlée itself. Good. And the Mock-tail. One of the best I’ve had!
The negatives. Cutting to the chase. Within an hour of being here I found myself in the bathroom suffering, to what I’m going to assume was a bunch of semi uncooked rice within the duck chorizo dish. ( granted on me for eating it but thought maybe semi cooked for the style of dish. I don’t like making a big deal about things in person so I pointed it out after finishing a large amount and didn’t think much off it) However, didn’t help that I also caught a medium chunk of bone within the dish as well, which could have been a choke risk if I hadn’t noticed it.
For the price of nearly £40, I expected/ hoped for better. Maybe an off night as general reviews here are great and I feel guilty even giving a bad review but felt like something should be said!
Again. Service was amazing considering I was a solo eater I can’t fault them at all, the food has left me unwell and wishing I went else where though.
The drinks were yummy & brought over to us fairly quickly, but my bowl of fries took at least 20-30 minutes (& it was a pretty small bowl for £4)
We would have ordered main dishes here if the vegan options had been better, we found the menu online beforehand & noticed that cauliflower steak was the only vegan main so we decided to eat elsewhere.
Before we left, we discovered a special menu specifically for that evening with more vegan options on but unfortunately we had a table booked elsewhere at this point.
The view is stunning up on the roof. It’s definitely a good place to go for a special occassion.
I ignored this first interaction but then the he brought us our drinks in the same charmless demeanour, plonking the cocktails on the table with barely a care. My mom and everyone at the table, including young kids noticed and commented what a rude and unpleasant person he was. And when I had to go and complain to the manager about himself he once again couldn’t care less. I guess it more important to just hang out at the kitchen eating.
I would like to point out the rest of the staff were fantastic, especially Evie our waitress and the charming waitor who served our drinks. It seems they could train the manager in how to interact with customers . The food was also great but the whole experience was soured by the manager Liam who quote frankly couldn’t give a damn about his customers. May be you should stay in the office next time Liam and keep away from any customers in future as you are a totally useless at front of house duties.
Service was not the best, as it was very busy; we had to wait for spoons as they weren’t given out with dessert and the starters arrived before the drinks…. But the brownie and the beautiful view of the cathedral in the evening sky made up for it. The roof was open and there were heaters on after the sun went down.
There is a small carpark on the ground £2. All evening.
My partner managed to wave down a waiter who was walking around nonchalantly and said we would probably have to order inside as he didn’t think the outdoor bar was ready yet (even though there were quite a few outdoor tables already taken and a huge party of about 15 people). He then walked off and went to flirt with a two women at a table and ignored all the other tables.
The menu we got wasn’t put together properly, with paper coming out, some of the menu was duplicated and half of it missing. We ordered some cocktails which to be honest were quite expensive for what they were, and I’ve had a lot better. We sat outside for probably 30 minutes to an hour, in which during that time someone kept turning the music up and then down again and back and forth. Sometimes it would be at a good level, then it would be turned up to deafeningly loud. In the end we asked to move inside because we couldn’t hear ourselves, and the heaters were so far away from our table, it was too cold.
They seem to be so overstaffed, with many not actually doing anything. We saw some waiters play fighting each other, or others walking around slapping each other on the butt right in front of customer tables, it was really unprofessional.
We ordered more drinks, and watched them being made and then left on the side for 10 minutes whilst staff mingled around the bar ignoring all the drinks left there.
Whilst the decor inside is nice, and ambience is good, I wouldn’t come back. Service was poor, drinks are overpriced, and we didn’t try the food but some of the other reviews seem to suggest it’s also very overpriced for what it is.
