I would die for their samosas!
This restaurant was recommended to us by a bartender from a different restaurant and it did not disappoint.
Parking was easy, they had a parking lot right next to the restaurant. We did make a reservation to be on the safe side and the restaurant did get pretty busy so I would recommend making one. We opted to sit at the bar because we’re bar people.
The cocktails were great, bartenders were super friendly. My only negative commentary is I did not like the QR code menu. I could not get the WIFI to work via the cube and would have loved to have a paper menu. Call me old fashioned.

Now to the best part, the food! I’m a sucker for a samosa and these were next level. I went to school in India so I know a thing or two about a samosa. I also had their vegan which exceeded my expectations. My bf had their ramen and said it was amazing, he also got a roll too.

Loved the ambiance, the manager was super friendly and came to say hi to us. I would say this is a must stop if you’re looking for a nice dinner.

Katana Asian Cuisine is a zen-luxury retreat that attracts a global elite seeking privacy and culinary perfection. The atmosphere is sophisticated and moody, with dark wood interiors that make the space feel like a secret sanctuary in the heart of the jungle. It’s the ideal spot for a world-class dining experience that feels both modern and deeply rooted in its surroundings.
Known for its world-class sushi and incredibly fresh, local sashimi.
The dark, sophisticated aesthetic creates a private and intimate mood.
Reviewers frequently highlight the high-quality ingredients and artful presentation.
Offers a curated selection of drinks that pair perfectly with their signature Asian-fusion plates.

I almost didn’t come back here after having a bad experience with the service the first time I came. My friends convinced me to go back for a celebration dinner because the food is so good. after the seamless experience, excellent food and incredible service, I can say my faith was fully restored. There were 7 of us and everyone was so happy with their food and drinks. One girl said it was the best meal she’s ever had! To top it all off though, I must give special recognition to our server Luis. He went above and beyond, was attentive, everything came in a timely manner, and he truly made the experience. Luis and the incredible food is the reason we will be back!!

Food & atmosphere were phenomenal.

The main issue we had was that we showed up with a group of 6 which we totally understand that we should have made a reservation. We appreciated them finding space for us but it might have been better if they turned us away. We just ended up feeling like we were a bother and being rushed the whole time.

Worth mentioning that when you order water they will charge you 1000 colons. Which we understand if we ordered sparkling water there is usually an up charge but we asked and were served tap water

We had an amazing meal and excellent service at Katana. Our waiter Julio helped us choose a few dishes to share. We enjoyed the potstickers, pad Thai with fish, butter chicken, and dessert. Julio let us know the pad Thai noodles are made from scratch in-house, and they were so soft and delicious. All his recommendations were perfect. We also had a beautiful view of the river and trees. It was our favorite meal of our entire trip in Costa Rica. We will definitely be coming back.

Katana is easily one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Being from Toronto, the experience immediately reminds us of places like Joey, Cactus Club, and Earl’s — elevated, stylish, and consistently great food — but with a uniquely Santa Teresa soul.

The food is absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere is one of the highlights. We’re often seated right next to the river, which creates a serene and peaceful setting that feels special every time. We’ve celebrated an anniversary here and other meaningful occasions, and it’s a place we genuinely look forward to returning to.

Some of our favorite dishes include the crispy papaya tacos, which are stellar every single time, and the vegan chocolate mousse dessert, which is outstanding. We’ve also regularly enjoyed the sushi plate, and the quality has always been consistent. The drink selection is excellent as well — whether you’re into cocktails or mocktails, there are plenty of options, and you’ll definitely leave satisfied.

The staff are always warm, friendly, and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience. We also really appreciate that Katana has expanded its parking and now offers an exclusive parking lot just steps from the entrance, which speaks to how popular and in-demand this restaurant has become.

The space itself has a beautiful boho-chic vibe — relaxed, not overly manicured, and still very much connected to the natural surroundings. It feels elevated without feeling forced, and you truly feel transported while you’re there.

If you’re visiting Santa Teresa and looking for a restaurant that combines great food, a relaxed yet stylish atmosphere, excellent drinks, and consistently good service, Katana is a must-visit!

The dry aged tuna & the shrimp dumplings (both from the starters section) were 10/10. Also had the katana sushi roll but it was just ok. Would also recommend the spicy passionfruit margarita def on the pricier side but it’s a nice spot.

Delicious rolls. Interesting cocktails. Top 3 sushi places in Costa Rica in my opinion. Lovely design. Went for dinner on a Friday. Music a little too loud for me personally.

Food was very good, we had the chicken skewers, and the bowl as our mains. Vietnamese rolls as our appie. Nicely presented and lots of flavour. Decent portions as well. Service was ok, but slow overall. We didnt get our drinks until pretty much the appie arrived and that was a 15-20 min wait. It wasnt that busy when we arrived. By the time we left at about 730 it was much busier. Great atmosphere and really nicely done overall. Expensive mind you, as it was near. $150 USD for two…and with only a beer and one cocktail. Would recommend but not the best value overall.
