Salt + Smoke was a tasty spot for BBQ and a feel of southern food. They are a two story seating, fully loaded beautiful bar with many options on the menu. The trash ribs anf two choice meat plates with sides were ordered. So filling, easy to share a plate there is so much. The bracket chili and trash ribs were so bomb, would order again. Baked potatoe loaded, mac and cheese, fries…everything was good.
The bathrooms were clean. Service was ok. They did service switch and service improved by a lot. Side street parking or down by the river free parking

Took take-out brisket and ribs. NO utensils given so was a bit disappointed when arrived to hotel. Mac n cheese was good. Bbq bean was good. Brisket was a bit dry. Ribs were okay. great atmosphere and excellent staff.

Food prices are pretty reasonable. It was a bit loud due to poor acoustics. . . A bit hard to carry on a conversation.

Great patio dinner at salt and smoke! We got the trashed ribs for an appetizer. Good flavor with a delicious white sauce, ribs could have used some more meat.
We split the 4 meat platter which was perfect. The tomato and green bean salad was good, but would recommend the kale crunch salad as a side. Meats were delicious.
10/10 recommend the pear sangria! It was amazing!

FOOD: let’s talk about the food. The brisket had an amazing bark and flavor while being tender. Got the burnt ends and the fatty pieces, just do it. Mac and cheese was abnormally good. Couldn’t recommend this place more. Mike, great waiter btw. He really showed great service and recommended fire food.

Salt + Smoke is just incredible. The two-story space hums with energy, but the food commands your full attention. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender with just the right bite, the brisket is rich and smoky perfection, and every plate feels like the result of someone obsessing over it for hours so you don’t have to. And then there’s the Cracker Mac — unapologetically indulgent, perfectly balanced, and borderline addictive. This is BBQ done with confidence and soul, the kind of place that reminds you why barbecue matters in the first place. If you leave Old St. Charles without eating here, you did it wrong.

We stopped here for late lunch and it was fine but underwhelming. The hostess was handling a very long phone order so it took over 10min for us to get seated despite the restaurant itself not being that busy. We got the platter with 3 different meats and nothing really stood out positively or negatively. The flavors were not super strong, and the cook on the meat was unremarkable. The popover was probably my favorite part of the meal and sides (coleslaw and baked beans) were solid.

I frequent this place every time I’m in town. Always ordering the meat platter, always great service and atmosphere dining on the streets of St. Charles. Love the little muffin bread things on the platter plate and ofc love the ribs and the Mac n cheese is a must

Got seated immediately. Waited almost 10 mins for a server, while others around us were greeted promptly and had already had drinks. Ordered drinks, took forever! Finally was able to order food. That was the quickest thing the whole time we were there. Ordered the bestie plate w/2 meats was about 3/4 done and I have plastic in my food. The server was no where to be found , so I asked another server if he could get my server. She appeared and I told her and she said “oh that’s the plastic that they wrap the food in. Thankfully they did take it off the bill. Ruined the rest of the meal but glad I didn’t swallow it.
