Such an exceptional experience tonight at Eli’s! The staff were SO welcoming, Louis is the true example of southern hospitality! He made our daughter feel like a Princess, offered my husband and I complimentary champagne, and took some time to get to know us in between taking our orders. The food was even better than when we were here a few years ago. The French onion soup with marrow and fried onions was luscious! The creole coconut shrimp and grits had a delightful sweetness and tons of flavor. The glazed salmon was crispy and tender. And the beignets were a hit for the three of us! Light and crispy with a tasty caramel sauce. Eli’s Table will continue to be a staple for us when we visit Charleston!

Stopped by Eli’s Table for a nightcap with some friends and had a great experience. Ben (aka Baltimore) actually convinced us to come in while we were nearby, and we’re really glad he did. He was super friendly and welcoming!
Ty the bartender made awesome drinks and even made lollipops for us at the bar, which was really fun to watch. Ben even walked us back to our nearby hotel afterward, which was such a thoughtful gesture.
Great drinks, great people, and a really welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

I went to dinner with a friend at Eli’s table because we wanted to try somewhere we had never been before and we absolutely loved it here! Our server, Kasita, was the sweetest woman and was so kind. I would be thrilled to have her again! I also loved that there was a 3 course menu option where I was able to try one dish from each section. I had the ceasar salad, the roasted chicken with potatoes, which was SO good, and for dessert the creme brulee.
I will definitely becoming back for dinner with my husband. It was a great dining experience!

The Soup of the Day was truly incredible (wild boar soup) everything was OK. The duck was moist with a crunchy skin which I like with a flavorful sauce. The Airline chicken also had a good flavor mix.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Six‑Star Experience at Eli’s Table
The Hungry Detective and Special Agent Deirdre had an unforgettable evening at Eli’s Table this past Friday, and the only fitting way to begin is with one word: WOW. If six stars were possible, this restaurant would earn every one of them. For anyone visiting the Gibbes Museum of Art, this spot—conveniently located right next door—is an absolute must.
Atmosphere
Eli’s Table offers a stylish, inviting vibe with a fantastic bar area. This was my second visit, and while I haven’t yet sat at a dining‑room table, the bar is exceptional—comfortable, energetic, and perfect for people‑watching through the large street‑facing windows.
Service & Staff
From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was outstanding.
• Mallory greeted us with a warm smile and set the tone for the evening.
• Tyler, the bartender, is a true mixologist—his vodka martini with three olives was perfection, and his recommendation of a Tuscan blend paired beautifully with our meal.
• Christian, originally from Long Beach Island, NJ, brought great energy and even better stories.
• Davida, hailing from Sicily and speaking flawless English, shared wonderful insights from his travels.
• Louis, a tennis pro by day, delivered five‑star service all night.
This team is polished, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do.
Cuisine
The food was exceptional from start to finish.
• We began with beef carpaccio and warm bread—both outstanding.
• The lamb special, prepared by Executive Chef Michael Reilly, was cooked to a perfect warm pink center and served over hand‑mashed potatoes with fresh‑cut carrots.
• We’re already planning a return visit to try the duck, which came highly recommended.
Desserts
Dessert was a showstopper.
• The pineapple bread pudding with gelato was so good the plate was practically polished clean.
• Mallory also treated us to the beignets, which didn’t survive long enough to make it home.
Verdict
Eli’s Table is guilty as charged—guilty of delivering an extraordinary dining experience.
We can’t wait to return, especially for that duck.
Bonus Recommendation
Make an evening of it: explore Rodin’s “The Gates of Hell” at the Gibbes Museum, then walk next door for one of Charleston’s most memorable meals.
Charleston’s best‑kept secret—highly recommended.

We went Friday to try it out for restaurant week. We made. Reso for 7:30 and we were seated at 8:35. We sat at our table, which I will add the tables and decor is really bad. We waited again for another 25 minutes to get any food out. We actually asked our server, who’s was very nice and visibly frustrated at the kitchen, if we can have some bread or something. We were starving. I believe about 15 minutes later our 1st course came out, which was mussels and crab cake. Crab cake was burnt but we were so hungry we didn’t care. Picture to follow. The mussels were okay. 20 more minutes we still didn’t have our second course which was a beet salad and soup. I’m not sure why this took this long. We didn’t wait any longer, we decided to leave. The worst Charleston night out ever. We love going out to eat there. Clearly they were not prepared.

I haven’t written a review in ages, but Eli’s Table definitely deserves some praise! Candidly, it wasn’t on my radar given the sheer amount of highly recommended restaurants in Charleston. But it was better than any of the talked-about places I have been to lately. While not one dish disappointed (superb martini, crab bisque, cornbread risotto, perfectly cooked filet,) memories were made with the desserts. The red velvet waffle with strawberry gelato seemed too simple to be memorable, but it was beyond fantastic — perfect textures and quiet flavors. Please make this a signature dessert so it never leaves the menu! And the beignets were exceptional – authentic with spot-on crunch on the outside and warm, soft, fluffy inside. A notable feature of both the savory and sweet dishes was that despite some pretty rich choices, none of it felt too oily, too salty, too sauced or too much of anything that is so common when eating out. No heavy, gluttonous hangover feeling the next day. Even though there were a couple of hiccups with the service — it was a super busy night — issues were attended to quickly and kindly. This place should be both a staple for locals and an authentic, charming Charleston dining experience for visitors.

Eli’s table is our favorite restaurant in Charleston. We live in Vermont and try to get to Charleston at least yearly and we always make reservations for Eli’s table for one of our nights ( usually the last night so we can savor the experience) I am a Shrimp and grits connoisseur (self proclaimed) if we’re here for a week I order shrimp and grits every night at every restaurant we go to! Each place is different in their style of preparation. This visit we were only in town for three nights, Hymans makes a good Shrimp and grits, very predictable and consistent. High Cotton disappointed me, the service and atmosphere was top notch. The Shrimp and grits really bad. I must say I was a bit apprehensive when I saw Eli’s had changed their Shrimp and grits recipe. But, OMG… they were perfect before, now they’re out of this world delicious! Many layers of flavor that all worked so beautifully together! Making me wish I had room for another portion but I was stuffed after the yummy fried green tomato salad, the three different kinds of breads they served and my huge portion of Shrimp and grits! My husband had the filet with pimento cheese mashed potatoes. He raved over and over on how delicious everything was. Our waitress, Leanne was so attentive and friendly and had the prettiest smile! She made great recommendations and we took her up on all of them! Alyssa, checked in on us to see how we were enjoying ourselves several times as well. Everyone was so nice and genuinely cared about our experience. We will be back every chance we get!

Absolutely amazing! Coming from Chicago where we are surrounded by great food – Chef Mike pleasantly surprised us with delicious food at a reasonable price. The staff was welcoming and friendly.
It was SO good we ate here twice in the three days we were in town.
Highly recommend the roasted brussels sprouts that are a meal in themselves as well as the salmon, shrimp and chicken dishes. So well-seasoned and satisfying – don’t miss out!!
