I placed my order on line. 2 PC white, hush puppies, ff, roll, kids leg dinner, wedges, livers appetizer. Got 2 PC dark, ff, hush puppies, NO roll, kids leg, ff. The food is great but for the 3rd time in a row something happened. I also checked for my order when I walked in. Wasn’t quite ready, no worries, the cashier calls names sporadically for orders that are ready I finally checked back and my now barely warm food is on the shelf. My name was never called. Tried calling the restaurant but the line was busy. (The WERE packed) not happy with how this is going.

I am furious! I stopped ordering at Mr.Charles because service and food quality has dwindled TREMENDOUSLY over the past few years. I decided it’s been a while and I would give them another shot today. I ordered $70 worth of food, which contained a turkey wing dinner. I did not order through a third party service but direct from Mr.Charles. They apparently chose Doordash as the delivery service. The Doordasher showed up with HALF of my order. She said that’s all they handed her and so I would need to dispute via Doordash. Well, of course Doordash can not resolve because I did not place my order through Doordash. Additionally, Mr.Charles NEVER answers their phone, so I cannot get this resolved. I now have to inconvenience myself to drive to their location and dispute/get my money back!
I am absolutely completely done with them at this point and will ensure I never recommend them to anyone as I have done several times in the past for events and casual dining.

This place was so good. Nice atmosphere, music playing in the background was nice but allowed for conversation. Clean bathrooms and tables and servers that were friendly and clearly seasoned. The place run like a well oiled machine.
The food, was amazing. The side salad to start was fresh and crisp and obviously not from a bag. Every order came with hush puppies that were slightly sweet (as hush puppies be) and thank goodness you only get a few with your meal as I could’ve eaten a whole plate of them by themselves.
The coleslaw was excellent and not the least bit soft or soupy like I’ve been served in other places. The baked beans were very good, but the fish, the fish was wonderful.
We also tried a slice of the Keylime cake. That was excellent. Clearly not something frozen or mass produced. We can’t wait to go back and try some of the other options. Looking forward to some fried chicken.

Ordered bbq chicken Online received fried chicken only for them to say they dont sell bbq chicken. Then WHY IS IT ON YOUR MENU? Lady I spoke with offered no solutions and acted as if she didn’t even care. Also portion sizes for sides is the amount you would give a toddler. Dont waste your time with this place, Charlotte has so many better options

I hosted my graduation brunch here at their event space next door. I cannot express how amazing the staff was. From planning to the menu to the day of the event everything was smooth and flawless. The food is amazing. The event space is beautiful. We had a bartender named Jeff. He was extremely attentive and you can tell he really loves his craft. All my guests complimented the space food and staff all day. I truly cannot recommend a better space for any events you want to have.

Visited Mr Charles Chicken and Fish for the first time, I drive pass this place all the time & always man that place be packed and jumping. & Now I know why, great atmosphere, customer service & food. Definitely will be returning soon.

I’m really disappointed with my experience at Mr. Charles. I paid $20 for a salad and it was NOT worth it. The lettuce tasted old, and it looked like they took two plain chicken breasts straight from the store, chopped them up with no seasoning, and just threw them on top. I asked for shrimp and chicken and was given only 3 shrimp. Three.
I ordered my boys tenders and chicken — that was okay. The mac and cheese was actually good. But the fries were hard on the outside like they’d been sitting too long or freezer burnt.
The cashier was nice, but she seemed confused every time I asked a question. They also forgot to give my son his mac and cheese. Then the cook came out with an attitude asking “for who?” like I was the problem. No ma’am.
After spending my money and just getting off work, the last thing I wanted to deal with was rude energy and messed up food. I even heard there were rumors online about cleanliness issues, which honestly made the experience worse to think about.
They really have to do better. Customer service and food quality matter — especially when people are spending their hard-earned money.

If you like Southern cooking soul food, Mr. Charles is the place to go.. I had the gizzards and they were tender and awesome. Best ice had. My wife had the baked turkey wings and they also were marinated and seasoned to perfection. It is a must if you live good old fashion southern comfort food..
