Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

I don’t do a bunch of fast food but wanted to try out the tallow fries.
To be 100% honest I could not tell a difference.
The major difference was only the way my mind could explain it. The feeling you get after eating a Big Mac…. It’s great and tastes perfect but then you have that guilty odd feeling having no clue what you just ate that was created by a team of scientists.
The steak and shake burger is just simply a real burger. Tastes great. Bacon is fried crisp and it was not just thrown together to get an order out.
The size is not huge but they have burgers priced at $5 which can’t be beat.
Overall very satisfying and and great experience.
For a fast food diner the cook and staff all made sure I was doing well thru out my meal. You won’t get that personal treatment at any other chain.
Overall experience was above expectations. Definitely putting this chain high on my list for a quick meal
I opened my burger to find 2 noodles as well. Either the employees are extremely lazy or the owner is extremely cheap.
You do not get what you pay for here.
I can see why you continue to fail
I’m one of many btw- word of mouth spreads faster than advertised in stl
As we waited at the cleanest table we could find I watched as the person in a red Nike shirt which I assume was the manager making the burgers constantly wiping his head with the backside of his hands while holding the spatula he was using to flip burgers with. His work station was filthy and could see him physically trying not to slip because of the grease at his feet.
After 35 minutes of our name not being called and multiple people recieving their food before us though they had ordered in store after we arrived I walked up to the counter to ask about our order. One employee walked up and asked what we needed I showed her our order and she walked away. The person in the red shirt then turned and asked what we were waiting for I calmly responded that we had been waiting for 30 minutes (actually 45) at this point to which he angrily responded we’ve been calling your name. I laughed and stated that’s funny because I’ve been here and neither of us have heard our name. No “sorry about that” just “well you should have been listening. We’ve called your name multiple times.”
By the time we received the food it was now old and the shakes had to be remade because they had been sent out with a door dash driver.
100% will never recommend this location due to the lack of customer service. The restaurant was disgusting and food was being sent out incorrectly.
I’m assuming the whipped cream, cherries, and cookie bits are at the bottom! Definitely order from here if you want to pay extra for non-classic shakes, and get exactly that! I
I know the employees worked hard to get my order correct, and took pride in doing so. I love being surprised by getting what the workers feel like making instead of what I paid to receive. Miraculous work guys!
