Shorty’s West Miami is a great spot! The place looks renovated, and it’s cleaner and better maintained compared to the Dadeland location.

I really loved the corn and the BBQ ribs—both were flavorful and satisfying. The burger was okay, nothing special but decent. Service was fine, and when we went on a Sunday lunchtime, there was no wait at all, which was a big plus.

Parking is available, making it convenient to visit. Overall, a solid BBQ spot if you’re in the area and craving classic comfort food.

Food and service here was great. Had a lot of fun hanging out with my friends and eating all of their leftovers. Unfortunately, I was too full for dessert. So I dont really know if they even had cheesecake.

My wife and I recently visited Shorty’s BBQ and used a coupon that saved us about $7 or $8, which was a great start to our meal.

I ordered the Pork Steak with Coleslaw and Fries, while my wife had the Spare Ribs with the same sides. We both got a side of Garlic Bread, which was also very good—my wife especially liked it. The pork steak was tasty, and the coleslaw was awesome—definitely a highlight of the meal. I’m not a big fan of fries, but I have to admit that these were very good. My wife thought her ribs were just okay.

After that, I also ordered a Beef Brisket Plate. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The brisket was too dry for us; most of the pieces were overcooked. We did find two or three pieces that were really juicy, but they were the exception.

The service was good, and overall, it was a positive experience, especially considering the savings from the coupon. While most of the food was great, I probably won’t be ordering the brisket again.

Restaurant was good. No wait to sit and the place was very busy. Order took a minute but the food came quick. I tried the Brisket and it was pretty good. One large tough piece but the others were much better. Cole slaw was decent and a really creamy style.

1/6/26 I’m visiting from Massachusetts staying at the local hotel.

I wanted some Ribs. I decided to order from your restaurant on door dash.

The ribs was very delicious & well seasoned. Very tender.

As a Rib cooker I’m not a big fan of the ribs fallen off the bones.

I like my meat tight on the bones so I can get a good bite without the meat falling off the bone.

The meal very good. A good value for the money.

This review is really for one person, Sofia, who handles pickup orders at Shorty’s on Bird Rd. She is and has always been outstanding!

Just to provide some context, I’ve been a customer of Shorty’s for many years and I’ve been to other outlets of theirs as well.

Sofia has handled my order a number of times. She stands out from all others for two main reasons, other than always being kind, courteous and polite.

The first reason is she always opens the food containers to show me the order is accurate. No one else has ever done this so it means it must be her own initiative.

By doing this, any issues can be dealt with on the spot. I don’t have to worry about getting home, only to find out the order is wrong or missing something if I didn’t have the time to check it myself before I left the restaurant.

There have been a number of times I’ve picked up my order that was handled by someone else and I was so aggravated after finding out later the order was incorrect.

The second reason she stands out is she has an absolute perfect track record. She has never gotten my order wrong…ever!

When someone consistently does their job well, I feel compelled to show my appreciation and to highlight her as an example to others!

Well done, Sofia! Thank you very much for doing what you do! Cheers!

I left a 1 start for the following reasons. I ordered the BBQ combo (ribs and chicken). First, they charged an extra dollar for white meat chicken, which ended up being dry and flavorless. The ribs had a smoke taste but no real texture, and they were far from meaty. Honestly, the best part of my plate was the coleslaw.

My wife ordered the pulled pork platter, and her pork was served lukewarm. She agreed—the coleslaw was the only highlight. A suggestion to the kitchen: seasoning is your friend, please use it.

Service wasn’t great either. I still left a 19% tip to round off the bill, but being prompted for an additional higher tip on the receipt felt like a money grab and a complete turn-off.

Our next family food adventure take us to Shorty’s Bar-B-Q located in Miami with a category of 4.2 and more than 2,038 reviews, this restaurant specializes in barbecue.
One History and Tradition:
Tracing the Roots: Barbecue’s history spans centuries, originating from indigenous cooking methods and evolving through various cultures.
Regional Styles: Each region has developed its distinct barbecue style, from Texas brisket and Kansas City ribs to North Carolina pulled pork and Memphis dry-rubbed ribs.
Cultural Significance: Barbecue plays a significant role in American culture, bringing people together for gatherings and celebrations.
At Shorty’ s they have maintained the original recipe since its inauguration in 1951, I went with my family at dinner time. The experience was good, the waiter was very friendly and was very helpful when choosing from the menu.
The place has a very Texan Western-style design. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was too dark. The food was delicious and exquisite. The ribs fell off the bone smoothly.
A constructive advice should make a renovation because the competition in kind of cuisine style is already at another level.

I’m very discouraged about my service here. I walked in. I placed a carryout order and decided I wanted to dine in, followed by receiving my food. It was made a big deal. The manager had to come out and then ask the servers. From working in the hospitality industry as long as I have. To get that kind of response was very unfortunate. This reminded me of another experience I had at this restaurant. I got a carry out order, I sat down and dined in because my partner was going to join me. The server at the time was very rude. She didn’t say anything to me, but gave me dirty looks for sitting there. When my boyfriend arrived, she gladly helped him and the service and energy completely changed 360. It was very weird for me. Not to mention I tip when I purchase carry out.

I would also totally understand if the restaurant was at occupancy or close to. However, each of my interactions that was not the case as you can see the picture this forced me to eat outside at the Starbucks next-door, and unfortunately, all of my food blew off of my lap due to a strong wind. Because I decided I wanted to eat in that moment.

Service could DEFINITELY be better.
