My husband and I visited for the first time tonight and were blown away by the flavors. The butter chicken was smooth, comforting, and beautifully spiced. The samosas were golden and delicious, paired with a vibrant green sauce that delivered a noticeable kick and plenty of flavor. The garlic naan was amazing and perfect for soaking up every bite, and the portion sizes were generous. We truly enjoyed our meal and can’t wait to return to try more dishes.

The chicken tikka masala is always great here. We tried a different second entree than our usual, the chili pepper entree, but it wasn’t my favorite. The samosas are also always delicious, as well as the pakoda (literally my fav go to app), and the service was actually great for as busy as they were on a Friday night-major props. Rated 4 stars for atmosphere because the host had his phone on speaker mode the whole time we were dining, which wasn’t pleasant. Plus, I’d love to see the lighting a little dimmer for dinner time. Other than that, this is one of the better Indian restaurants in the Greater Houston Area! (Management: I strongly recommend getting a second host on Friday/Saturday evenings because it is really busy and takes time to even get your order submitted.

Had a dinner meet up at The Monk’s Indian Bistro, and overall, the experience was just okay. The service was polite, but the food didn’t blow me away. I’m no stranger to Indian cuisine, it’s very similar to the West Indian foods I grew up on, and I’ve also explored Indian dishes during my travels to Dubai so I came in with a pretty open palate.
I ordered the Tandoor Murgh which I didn’t realize was an appetizer. It was flavorful but a little on the dry side. The biggest issue was timing for me. The dishes came out at different times, with odd pairings, and we waited a long time for the main courses which took away from the flow of the evening. By the time the main dishes came I was already full and ready to go.
Food Highlights: Mango Lassi, Cilantro Lemon Soup.
The lighting in the restaurant also felt a bit too dim. The space could really benefit from brighter lighting to freshen up the ambiance. I wanted to enjoy it more, but there wasn’t anything particularly memorable about the food.

I was recommend this place by a friend so we came to check it out. This place was packed which probably attributed to the long wait time and service! Food took a LONG time to be served and it was warm. Flavor was delicious but portions small. My wife ordered a Butter Chicken but the ratio of chicken to sauce was off. Overall…it was AIGH. Not the best, not the worst. Would consider returning once there is a smaller crowd.

I had such an amazing experience at Monks! The food was absolutely incredible — every dish was packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and tasted so fresh. You can really tell a lot of care goes into the cooking.
The owner is so warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It honestly feels like you’re being invited into someone’s home!!
The perfect spot for a cozy dinner or a special night out. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Amazing food and well, very much in budget! Ordered the green chilli cauliflower appetizer with some veg spring rolls & burnt garlic fried rice! Everything so perfect and delish!
Review edit –
Visited again recently only because was in awe of this place but to my disappointment, wasn’t as satisfied as before. This time I ordered 2 different things from my previous order, gobi manchurian and veg hakka noodles. Gobi manchurian was decent but I wasn’t very happy with the hakka noodles. Was made really spicy using way toooo much black pepper. The service was also very late (it was a Monday evening)- took 35 mins and thus I didn’t ask for a different order because I didn’t have to patience for them to remake it. Taking a star down from my review.

Came here a few weeks ago for brunch with family.
We loved everything! The ambiance, service and food were amazing! The server checked in on us frequently and she suggested amazing dishes.
The food wasn’t like your typical oily desi food.
I did not feel bloated after eating it and the food wasn’t “heavy”. Portion sizes are also a good amount!

We indulged in a vibrant spread, beginning with the Butter Chicken Masala, which was luxuriously rich and perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness and spice. Paired with Ghee Jeera Rice, the combination was nothing short of exquisite. The Spicy Masala Noodles offered a delightful fusion of bold heat and savory depth, while the Vijayawada Chicken Biryani stood out for its fragrant basmati, tender chicken, and expertly layered spices. A personal favorite of the evening was the Tandoori Chicken Momos—succulent, smoky, and impeccably seasoned. One of the guys at the front suggested the gulab-jamun dessert with vanilla ice cream and I absolutely recommend.
The restaurant itself is immaculately maintained, with an inviting ambiance that enhances the overall experience—an easy A+ for atmosphere. The staff were warm, attentive, and offered insightful recommendations that clearly reflected a deep knowledge of the menu.
Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to fellow lovers of fine cuisine. We will most certainly be returning.
