We loved the eggplant dip, the tuna crudo & the duck. The mango chai cheesecake was OK but nothing to write home about.
Service was excellent – shout out to the bartenders!
The real surprise, however, was the Vietnamese Long Noodles with Duck. The duck was perfectly rendered and tender, and the noodles had that ideal ‘chew’ that pulled all the aromatic herbs and savory sauce together. It’s rare to find a spot that handles such diverse flavor profiles with this much precision.
The Highlight: The Duck Noodles are a must-order for anyone looking for something unique.
The Verdict: 5/5 stars. This place is doing something special
Duck was very good, I could have used a tiny bit more crust to the skin.
Tables were a tiny bit scrunched, we were in MDR, if you sit on the patio and they say covered, it’s fully enclosed and has heaters.
The decor is lovely, very elegant and warm, and the service is pleasant and warm. Looking forward to trying more things from the diverse and unique menu!
We loved these starters:
khachapuri – Georgian tradition with a bit of heat
egg yolk, yellow farm pepper cheese,
feta, chili oil
tibetan momos – rustic staple of Tibet and Nepal
pork and vegetable dumplings, tomato
garlic chutney, chili oil
lebanese fish kofte – traditional Palestinian specialty , crispy fish croquette, sumac, labne, olive oil
nihari – Middle Eastern favorite with Indian spice
braised lamb, classic indian curry spice mix,
lime, jalapeño
pan-roasted prawn – celebration of French + Indian flavor , black truffle and saffron cream,
vadaovan curry
And these spectacular entrees:
pappe’s famous butter
chicken – irresistible Indian comfort food
tomato butter sauce, jasmine rice, tandoori
marinated poussin, farm honey drizzle
forbidden duck -rich North African dish with a Chinese touch duck breast, baby bok choy, petit carrots, forbidden black rice, harissa honey glaze
And also their pork chop and lamb dish as well, superb.
Desserts were fine, cocktails were excellent.
Service was superb at every stage and in every interaction.
Only thing to be improved on is that tables were absurdly small in comparison to the oversized entree plates! Something easy enough to remedy I hope.
My only critique was that we were sat at 6:30 PM, wasn’t that busy, but it was 7:20 before our first appetizers arrived. And when they did come out, one of them was the roasted eggplant which seem kind of odd in that it should’ve come with bread. The waitress came back about five or 10 minutes after the appetizers were dropped and noticed that there is no bread and said oh that usually comes with bread and then asked us if we wanted bread when it should’ve been obvious and brought right out. She then had to order it and that took another 10 minutes just to get bread out so the dish sat there for 20 minutes. Seemed like it took a long time to have the waitress order drinks to start, which didn’t get ordered and come out for at least half an hour. Most places would’ve had drinks and appetizers out within 30 minutes of being seated. I clearly thought by having a 630 reservation we’d be done and out of there by 8:30 but everything seemed to drag on and we did not leave there until almost 930 for a table of three with shared appetizers and two main dishes.
I did in fact really enjoy this place and will definitely return, but I was let down by the slow pace of service with the waitress not, showing up to take orders quicker and with the bread being forgotten that we then had to wait for.
Hopefully, next time I’ll be able to leave a five star review if the service can be tweaked and the realization that bread should’ve been brought out with the eggplant and that it should have been caught immediately and not caused us to wait longer.
