Social Profile:

Since its opening in 1988, Luigi Vitrone’s Pastabilities Restaurant has been cited as The Little Jewel of the new Little Italy and also as one of the very few restaurants in the Brandywine Valley where one can savor the authentic and uncompromising regional Italian cuisine that chef/proprietor Luigi Vitrone has made famous and affordable to all. This fine restaurant, along with its founder, Luigi Vitrone of Brooklyn, New York, has received many enthusiastic reviews from prestigious newspapers, magazines and trade publications on the East Coast. The fresh pasta, sauces, desserts, and more are all made with love by hand. Nothing is frozen or pre-made here. Just delicious favorites from Italy that you will return to time and time again!

Cosy, rustic Little Italy trattoria plating regional, freshly prepared dishes since 1988.

The food was okay, I was definitely expecting more, especially since this restaurant aired on diner, drive ins, and dives.. I got the arancini rice balls, but it wasn’t heated thoroughly. The cheese inside wasn’t fully melted, and the rice was hard. I also got the chicken parm with gnocchi, but the chicken and sauce lacked flavor. The gnocchi was hard and also lacked flavor.. I asked for a hot coffee and the coffee I received was cold.. I will say the homemade banana ice cream was really good, though.

Pastabilities quickly won me over with their fun, funky, charming, cozy atmosphere, excellent service and outstanding food. Everything is made to order with fresh ingredients, and it definitely shows. Luigi’s food tastes like my Grammom made it.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The food was dynamite, all homemade deliciousness. The chef and the waitress were fantastic. I had the Dover sole with tomato sauce with capers, olives and crab on top. And it came with a side of homemade spaghetti and red sauce which was the best spaghetti and red sauce I ever had.
If you love great food and quirky little restaurants with the best service and the most amazing food then you don’t wanna miss this place. Go, eat and be extremely happy with your choice.
It’s stellar!

It was ok. The best thing was cannellini soup and the marinara sauce. Calamari was overdone and the pasta was mediocre. They do give you a piece of bread with tomato sauce on top as a free snack which is nice. I wanted to give it a try because I heard so many things about it but its not all its cracked up to be.

This place just feels like home! The first time I came I dined alone and immediately told Doris I have to bring my mother here. This passed Saturday I was able to bring her and my uncle who was visiting and man did they LOVE it. Uncle Luigi and Doris are so friendly and you taste the love in the food and the service. My home away from home!

Portions were generous but the food just wasn’t good. We ordered 2 apps and 2 entrees and had a couple bites of each and threw the rest away. The meats in the antipasto weren’t fresh, the arancini had bleu cheese (what?!!), the sauce had large pieces of onion, and while he may season it himself, it’s absolutely from a jar or can. If you call that homemade, then ok, but it’s not truly homemade if it comes from a jar or can…even if it’s a jar of whole tomatoes.

Just visited for our first time. Doris and Luigi immediately made us feel right at home. Doris told stories as Luigi prepared the delicious Italian soul food. Why drive to Philly!?! Glad we could support a local DE business. We’ll be back (this time with a reservation).
