The Ocean Club is located in the newly restored Stone Bank Condominium, a striking 2,680 sq ft space blending native stone and Mediterranean terra cotta. Historic features include a grand domed ceiling, stained glass arches, mahogany doors, and a repurposed stainless steel vault now serving as a wine room and communal dining space. The seasonal menu highlights Vineyard-grown produce, local seafood, handmade pastas, and premium steaks. The best dish is the most ordinary one. Bolognese pasta is tasty, filling and a treat for the eyes. The ambiance is a reason in and of itself to visit this establishment. Vault turned into wine cave, safe door become a communal table and decorations reminiscent of the bank that once stood there give this restaurant a quirky museum touch. The food and cocktails are pricy which leaves you with the expectation for an amazing culinary journey. Cassoulet is delicious but overwhelming in size. Best to be mindful of all the mains being oversized when ordering. It’s a nice treat when on the Vineyard.

Drinks: The Stone Bank (bourbon & vermouth) and Cabernet. Entrees: Veal Saltimbocca with fingerling potatoes and Prime Brandt Steak with fries for dinner. I thought the veal was ok but I have had better. Hubby had the steak medium but said he also has had better. The restaurant was an old converted bank, the atmosphere was very relaxing. The service was good however the server neglected to tell us about a misprint on the menu until we ordered the item. Also the server didn’t mention the menu additions until we asked. Live piano music. We sat in the dining area of the bar. Reservations accepted.
For the cost, I would not recommend. Even on MV I thought it was way overpriced.

What an addition to the rather paltry Vineyard Haven lineup of top restaurants! Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, with a special shoutout to the chicken noodle soup. I honestly can say it was the best cup of soup I’ve had in a long long time. Service was great. Loved the small but tidy wine list. They even had live music! Absolutely worth a visit for anyone on the island.

The decor is lovely. The chef hit it out of the park on flavors, Five Stars. Wines by the glass were terrific. The mezze appetizer could not have been better. But that’s where the good news ended. A restaurant that is always changing its menu runs a risk, the same way that specials at a restaurant are not always as good as the tried and true. It must be difficult for the kitchen at The Ocean Club with all their changing up.
Point in fact, the lasagna bolognese was so dry it may have been the worst thing I have ever ordered. Tasted great flavor wise and the filling would have been nice on pasta (think meaty bolognese that runs on the dry side, clinging to rigatoni), but honestly I could not cut it thin enough to eat and the sparse amount of yummy sauce on the plate that I dipped it in soon ran out. The half duck that (per our server) took days to prepare had a sauce with a delectable flavor, but the meat was oddly grey and mushy. Maybe cooked too long via sous vide or other method?
I hope they decide to land on a few tried and true menu items, and if they want to get creative, vary the sauce seasonings or sub out an ingredient here and there. Not major shifting like they are doing. Or better yet, leave a core set of selections alone and don’t mess with perfection.

Had a wonderful dinner with 2 friends this evening at Ocean Club in Vineyard Haven. Our incredible waitress was Vicky. She guided us through the menu and made wonderful ,recommendations for every course, including wines. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. I had the Bolognese, the best Bolognese I’ve ever had. We shared several appetizers. This is simply a perfect restaurant, and manager Travis is doing a great job keeping everything moving so smoothly, which is truly remarkable for the second week of operation. Thank you to everyone at Ocean Club, we will be back!

There appear to be plenty of wrinkles to work out. Our small party arrived minutes apart, but despite identifying ourselves we’re sat in two different parts of the restaurant. After 15 minutes of waiting, we figured it out and reseated ourselves. No apologies from anyone.
If you’re looking at their online menu, be aware that the prices on the menu you’ll be handed in the restaurant are higher. Service was uneven, and as others have noted, this is very expensive relative to what you get, even for MV.

Such a great addition to Vineyard Haven. So much detail went into this historic building. The food was fantastic, the staff are super friendly and welcoming, and the music and lights were perfect. Definitely making this place my new regular spot.
