Kabuto Lake Norman is located at exit 25 off of I-77 across from Birkdale. We pride ourselves in serving Angus Beef and all natural chicken and seafood. We have 14 hibachi grills to allow seating of large parties, perfect for all occasions and celebrations. We do not use peanut product in our establishment, proudly serve gluten free and cater to other food sensitivities request.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Kabuto for my son’s wedding on January 30,2026 – the weekend of the big snow fall in the Carolina’s. Megan, the manager was amazing to work with as well as all the staff. The food was delicious and plentiful, the chefs were fantastic and the service superb. We had the whole back room to ourselves and everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you to all the staff for an amazing experience. I highly recommend Kabuto for any gatherings, big or small.

I gave a three because the chef was so awesome that he at least bumped up the rating. The food was fine. However, the young lady who was our waitress seemed like she was not. She didn’t say hello or even acknowledged us, she looked half asleep, she could have at least combed her hair. I don’t remember it ever being okay to wear sweats and have visibly uncombed/unwashed hair to work, especially working in food service. I get it. People are tired. But really? Is this what service has come too? She also snatched up the tip that we left for the CHEF as soon as it hit the table. So we were also not super happy about that.

This place is a little small inside and a bit dated. The food was not too great. Myy scallops were hard be ause cooked way too long. Food lacked flavor. On a positve note, the cook was very pleasant.

Our experience was very blah this time. We visit here for kids birthdays, they love watching the chef cook. Our chef this time was AMAZING, but everything else was not! He got the 3 star not the other staff!
Menu is very hard to understand the prices. And the manger was very rude upon asking about it.
The floor was a mess and they only had two chefs rotating through. Not busy enough for that to been the excuse.
The chicken was weird tasting and not normal texture. Do not know if it was cheap quality, lab grown, or older than should be. None of my family members ate it or enjoyed it.
On top of the extra $5-6 a plate for it.
I did not feel like I got $100 worth of food or experience and will not be going back to this location again. Too many other great restaurants in the area for this quality service and food.

We waited 30 minutes after our reservation to be sat. Unfortunately after being sat the service was not good. Come to find out it was the chefs first day and he didn’t do anything at the table (no tricks, no fire, absolutely nothing) the manager did comp one of my kids meals, even after that I left feeling robbed. It was the 4 of my children’s first experience at hibachi. I guess the good news is that it can only be a better experience when I take them to a new hibachi resturant. Disappointed.

Trust the bad reviews. I really wanted to like this place, it’s the only hibachi close by but it was a horrible experience.
We got there at 7 pm on a Thursday and the parking lot was empty. There was a couple in the otherwise empty restaurant. We were seated after 5 minutes at an empty table and a party of 13 walked in behind us.
We were served clear soup when we say down before they asked us anything. Ordered an unsweet tea and water and asked for the hibachi shrimp and shrimp/steak combo.
Ginger salad came out immediately. It was fine, a bit stale but okay. We asked for chopsticks and the server said okay. We sat there for the next 15 minutes. No chef, no refills, no chopsticks.
The chef arrived as we were getting up to walk out the door. He rushed through the entire service, did one trick, and left then came back because he had to do the volcano. While he was cooking we asked the server for refills and chopsticks.
The food was disgusting. Very, very oily and badly cooked. The shrimp sauce is sweeter than normal and the vegetables were undercooked. The steak, ordered medium, was well done.
The server came back to drop off the check and we asked for refills and chopsticks. We finally got them as we packed our food to throw away at home.
On a positive note, they have a serving robot, so maybe things will get better?

Ouch. Just waisted over $100 on this… Service is bad. We waited for our drinks forever. Then the orders were taken and my piece of steak never made it to the cooking table. Chicken was too dry. Vegetables were served at the very last… Who would want to eat them the very end? Service sucked and there was a piece hair in the soup. Beside that after dinner all your clothes will smell like you worked at the community cafeteria. Will not be back even if they pay for my dinner. Thank you

I wanted to celebrate my 26th birthday at a Japanese steakhouse and after a long year there is plenty to celebrate for me and my loved ones, which is why we really needed everything to be perfect and have a great time! My mother made me a cake as she is a professional cake decorator and it’s a very special cake for me. It simply needed to stay refrigerated so it wouldn’t melt and this wonderful steakhouse had no issues at all keeping it fresh and cold and preparing it for us to enjoy after dinner. We first went to Kobe streakhouse and we were met with attitude and they refused to put my cake in the fridge for us! Don’t waste your time, money and/or your special night or event on Kobe come here instead!!! They also went above and beyond to make me feel so celebrated and special! Our chef was an amazing cook and was so funny and delightful aswell. The food and drinks are to die for and the staff members were all polite and attentive! The manager even came out at the end to thank us and welcome us back! The restaurant was clean and the vibes were nice! Convenient location aswell! No issues finding parking at all. We will be back and we are now going to be regulars. Thank you again so much for such a special birthday celebration!
