If you’ve ever tried to host a business lunch in a restaurant that sounds like a construction site, you know the struggle. Napoli’s Italian Restaurant is the antidote to the “too-loud” lunch meeting.
The Atmosphere:
I visited for a business meeting and was immediately struck by the calm, quiet atmosphere. It’s sophisticated without being stuffy—the kind of place where you can actually hear your associates without leaning over the table.
The Power Move (Trust the Server):
As a rule, I always ask my server for recommendations. They see thousands of plates come out of that kitchen, so they know the “real” hits. Our waitress was kind, efficient, and steered me toward a winner.
The Food:
Following her lead, I went with the Portobello Ravioli and added chicken.
• The Verdict: Spectacular. The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the addition of chicken turned it into a hearty, protein-rich lunch that didn’t leave me in a “carb coma” for my afternoon meetings. It’s a 10/10 recommendation if you’re a fan of rich, earthy flavors.
The Service:
In a business setting, timing is everything. Our server balanced “attentive” and “unobtrusive” perfectly. We never had to hunt her down for a refill, but she also didn’t interrupt our conversation mid-sentence. That’s a skill that deserves a shout-out.
The Verdict:
Whether you are looking to impress a client or just want a high-quality Italian meal where the service is as polished as the silverware, Napoli’s is the Cedar Rapids gold standard.
Pro-Tip: If you’re a first-timer, ditch the menu and ask for the server’s personal favorite. It hasn’t failed me yet!
The infused olive oil with the warm, parmesan rolls were wonderful as a start.
My wife and I selected our main entrees. Hers was a special with different raviolis … lobster, spinach, and cheese with shrimp. I selected a pasta dish with red sauce containing shrimp, scallops, calamari, claws, and mussels. We both really enjoyed them.
Since it was our first visit, we had some questions and if Colin didn’t know the answer, he went and asked. He’s a student at Kirkwood Community College studying business.
Our meals came with soup or salad. My wife chose the tomato basil soup which she really enjoyed. I chose the lettuce salad with Caesar dressing. That was the only disappointment in my meal. Everything else was elevated in flavor. The side salad consisted of chopped up, inexpensive head lettuce versus a romaine or mixed greens.
We tipped our server 30% as we appreciated him.
We’ll definitely return.
The food was decent. There isn’t another Italian place in this side of town, so it was a good addition. The marinara sauce on the spaghetti with my chicken Parmesan was pretty bland.
Didn’t think the Diablo shrimp pasta tasted good w seafood. Tomato soup Very cream heavy. Main dish was ready halfway through my cup of soup. Clearly just microwaving prepared food. I don’t want to go out for my anniversary for a 30 minute microwave meal experience.
