I always have a great experience at Baby Shane. The owners and staff are professional and kind. I never have a problem with my order- the owners make sure each customer is treated with love, compassion, care, and the food is ALWAYS GOOD! At Baby Shane’s you will always get AMAZING food, very very generous portions. If something is not to your liking (I can’t eat hot’s so don’t take that statement to I didn’t like anything) they will gladly change it out for you with absolutely with no problem. The owner is AMAZING he speaks to us like we are family. We have been here a few times and as we were there last night talking to him he actually remembered EXACTLY how many times we have been in. Now that being said we don’t eat out a lot so our times eating out are far and few and even with the time in between he remembers who we are which really shows us how much he cares about his customers. If anyone wants some great food that can feed you for a couple days off one meal go visit the GREATEST PLACE TO EAT AMAZING SOUL FOOD in Albany.
Side note to any potential customer reading my review if you notice there are a couple of bad reviews on here for Baby Shane’s I TRULY BELIEVE THEY ARE OTHER RESTAURANTS TRYING TO RUIN HIS BUSINESS BECAUSE I HAVE CLOSELY READ EACH OF THEM AND THERE IS NOT ONE TRUE STATEMENT IN ANY OF THEM! Someone also stated that he used canned Greens and my husband said that is a Bull Faced Lie because he eats them everytime we go and also buys a large container of them to go.

Outstanding service. Extremely hospitable. Everything cooked fresh. Some items were just okay. Others, like the oxtails and peach cobbler— were amazing! You should try it. I would go here again and try some new things. Also- they give you ALOT of food.

Hubby had oxtails over rice with collards and field peas and I had pork chops with Mac n cheese, collards, and field peas. It was all great and we will be back! You know, now days it is so hard to find sincere decent people that their motive is to simply do good. I don’t even write reviews but wow. The food is beyond impressive. You can tell just as an artist heart and soul is put into it which is where the term originated. It’s so amazing. Sadly, people hate so much that I found out a people came from their place of business just to try to discredit this place but it speaks for itself. Because I had just ordered from another restaurant, my husband is the only who ordered from Baby Shane. I’m true couple fashion, I did taste his food of a smothered porkchop, rice/gravy and cornbread. He also tried the fried ribs.
Soul Food isn’t my cup of tea, yet the corner picks with my fork I tasted were good. My husband said he enjoyed the food.
The new location is very homey. I love the showcase displays honoring African Americans! The owner was a lot more personable than the first time my husband visited the establishment. Perhaps he was having a bad day then, as this visit he was friendly, patient, and offered the back story on the name. Also the rest of the staff was welcoming.
My husband and I played a game of chess while waiting.
The only con is the price, which was a bit high. The meal was $29 and change. And $6 of that was for the ribs. There were two ribs for that price.
Sorry we didn’t get pictures of the food. Next time ~

Okay, so I decided I wanted some soul food, and DoorDash recommended this place. The food was a tad bit cheaper online, but when I called the order in, the prices were way higher. Either way, I ended up spending over $90 for four plates and three desserts.
Honestly, too TMH, the food was absolutely putrid. I don’t know if it was just a bad day for them, but someone was very heavy-handed with the salt and pepper. We couldn’t even taste the actual food. The desserts were sour, and I have never in my life had watery, sour peach cobbler or candied yams like that. Seriously y’all.
What was supposed to be red velvet cake was hard and crumbled just from touching it. The oxtails and pork chops were dry and tough. It was so bad that I genuinely want my money back. That’s how disappointed I am.
To say two positive thing, my husband said he liked his hamburger steak, but after he tasted my food and the kids’ plates, he quickly changed his mind. Also the young lady I spoke with was nice with explaining what they had.

Me and the wife wanted to try something new. Glad we did. Didn’t want a lot, just alight lunch so I ordered the chicken lunch special, got 3 pieces of perfectly fried crispy chicken with fries and a roll for 5.99 and could hardly eat it all (but I managed) my wife got the 2 piece catfish and fries for 5.99 and she loved it added a couple of drinks and our total was less than 18.00 (now that’s a deal. They have a fairly extensive menue so we plan to go back when we want a more complete meal. I want to try the fried ribs and the shrimp and grits along with some veggies next time. I only have 2 suggestions for the owners, the rolls are hard and we did not even try them, a piece white bread would be better and also we do not drink sodas or caffeine so to offer ice water would be great. Anyway we will be coming back to Baby Shane’s!

The last 3 times including today. It would be nice if there was more attention placed on getting the complete order prepared for the take out or delivery orders.

Our first time stopping by and we will for sure be back. Customer service is A+. The food is SO GOOD. I recommend the fried chicken and to go ahead and put some pepper sauce on it. 10/10. All my sides were great but the butter beans were my favorite. We can’t wait to return and try some other dishes. The do have an app so you can order ahead. Give this place a shot!
