wow… just wow. I thought I had been to all the best Chinese restaurants in Michigan, but this place blew me away. I got the mapo tofu and salt crispy eggplant and both were incredible. Great amount of spice, perfect amount of szechuan peppercorns. I ended up almost finishing both dishes myself. So happy I went here. Need to try the dimsum next. Only caveat was the oil, but I poured some of it out and mixed with rice so it was ok.

My absolute favorite authentic Szechuan cuisine restaurant.
We never order so called “Americanized Chinese menu items”
So we can’t comment on that.
The dishes we had last night was Spicy Garlic Pork Belly appetizer, Dinner Special Ribs, Salt & Pepper Shrimp, and Yangzhou Fried Rice.
Everything was cooked to perfection, fresh, hot and tasty.
It was wonderful to see our favorite waitress from their old(original)location.
We haven’t seen her for few years but she remembered us real well and asked us right away that if we want the dishes spicy
We always ask em to make the dishes super extra spicy and they’ll always add extra hot chilis to our dishes.
She even got us freshly made sweets as a surprise.
That was very sweet of her
I myself love to cook Chinese food but I live in an apartment, there’s limitation on cooking with high heat.
I’d just come here to enjoy authentic Chinese food instead of me trying to cook.
I can’t wait to go back again soon.

I used to go to this place a lot in college and had forgotten about it. I recently went back, and it looks like they have remodeled! The food is better than ever, and if you like authentic Sichuan Chinese cuisine, this is the place for you. They also have an American menu; however, my husband and I always go for the authentic menu. They even had a fried smelt special last time that is very nostalgic to us and our culture. The ladies are very nice and always make the dishes spicy and authentic how we like them. I can’t go here without getting the Sichuan chicken. Their pork green beans are great as well as the fried eggplant.

We have been eating at Ypbor since it was at the other location a few doors down on Washtenaw. It is hands down the best Chinese food around, anywhere. The food is incredible and we have yet to have a slightly less than stellar experience. From dine in to carry out, you will be rewarded with exceptional food and such lovely service. The decor is beautiful, the “vibes” are relaxing, and it is so freaking tasty! Try somwthing new, you will not be disappointed.

Easily the best food we’ve had in the greater Ann Arbor area so far and on par with some of the best Chinese food I’ve eaten in the Midwest.
The restaurant is large enough for families and big groups with some booths and tables for smaller parties. There was even one table with the largest lazy Susan I’ve ever seen – probably for a group of 15-20.
The menu is the right degree of large but not overwhelming and is brimming with traditional Chinese items. Most dishes we tried were seasoned well with a robust and satisfying great level (if spicy). The surprise got for many was the sour fish soup. The pork with mustard greens was liked by all as was the salt and pepper pork ribs.
The desert items brought to the table were tasty and wonderfully crisp yet delicate and deliciously warm inside.
Overall a great meal and a spot we are looking forward to returning to.

Unfortunately, my Green Beans & Soy Chicken doesn’t look like the picture. Very disappointing. My colleague recommended this place.

This is really good authentic Chinese food, I don’t know what the people in these other reviews are going on about. The authentic menu is like 2-3 times the size of their American Chinese selection. Service was good, everyone was friendly. Only thing we didn’t like was the fried rice. Flavor was fine, but had bean sprouts in it which was unexpected. Will be coming back often!

This place will be my new favorite! Amazing and authentic. Friendly clean beautiful place. I ordered the chicken Szechuan and it was so delicious with flavors I have never experienced before. You will love this restaurant!!
