Chose this because we wanted a really good authentic Mexican eat but was disappointed. Steep prices. The food was good but for $20 I got a regular burrito. Found out it’s an extra $5 to smother with sauce and sour cream, then another $5 for rice and beans. I was craving a nice burrito with rice and beans on the side but was disappointed. High price for just a burrito— it was good though. I surprisingly was full but my husband was not afterward.

In short, I came here via a recommendation from a Mexican chef. Me and 4 friends were all extremely disappointed.
I hope this review helps provide data that can guide this place to a more consistent experience. I am open to believing that we should try this place again but it might take a year or so.
Here are 2 photos of the same shrimp tacos ordered by two of my friends. One of them is soupy and the other is more aligned with expectations.
My asada, chicken, and pastor tacos were pretty disappointing. They were cold when delivered and the actual tortilla was stale. The meat didn’t have much spice and I found myself drowning them in salsa to ingest the calories.
We got here at 1pm and at 2:15 we got our food. The staff dropped someone else’s food at our table that we had to bring back. The last person to get food had to ask for the plate that was just sitting there on the counter. Her food was also cold.
I pray that this place figured out how to consistently serve good food. Lord knows the island needs better Mexican food. I’ll come back in a year or two to try this place again but severely disappointed.

My first time here and what an excellent experience! The atmosphere was welcoming and vibrant, decorations were awesome! Excellent environment! The customer service was outstanding, Arianna was very helpful and kind in assisting me with what to order. She explained to me the items on their menu and told me what items were good. Still undecided, I didn’t know what to order so I asked Arianna for her recommendation. Arianna said don’t worry I got you! When I got my surprise order everything was delicious and authentic! The food was flavorful, you could tell they cooked with love! If in Wahiawa stop by and support local. I will be definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu. Thank you to Arianna and the cooks!

My husband and I tried this place for a quick lunch. I had the shrimp tacos gobernador and he had the chicken enchiladas. The shrimp tacos were really yummy but extremely oily. I had to line my plate with extra napkins and put the tacos on top to soak up all the oil. They need to fix that because they are really delicious minus the grease fest. My husband said the chicken enchiladas were good.

Real tasty mexican food! We visited all Hawaiian islands and eat a lot of mexican food (restaurants and foodtrucks) and by far Clau & Chui’s Cocina is the very best! Have tried several menus and all are great!
If you like mexican food and near North Shore then this is a must visit!
The Mc Donalds, Wendy’s, taco Bell, L&L are all on the other side of the road but skip those and get a real nice meal! You won’t regret it!

First off I am so happy for another mexican place to open in Wahiawa. El Ranchero sucks thank God for places like this. I walked in was greeted by a very nice lady at the cash register. That right there was a very big plus to me, many places here forget how to do customer service. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. They changed it from what it used to be was a teddy’s to a Authentic Mexican restaurant the ambiance was perfect. Very happy to see a nice old man making the food in the back. I know that my food is going to be great! I got the Birra burrito and my friend got the Chorizo breakfeast burrito. I asked my friend how his chorizo Burrito was he said it is good dawg and continued to eat until it was gone! When I finally got my Birra burrito home the first bite was full of flavor and with every bite with consome just got better and better I love this place and I hope it is here to stay very happy customer here!
