I bought what was supposed to be “red peas soup.” I got a large cup of broth. “Only.” No kind of food or peas. It’s understandable if that’s all they had left, but let the customer know and decide if they still want it. And if they do, be sensible enough to charge a discounted price. This man who prepared the cup of broth knows exactly what he placed in the cup and still charged me the full cost. Pettiful! Clearly only care about the money.

I just stopped in to try the breakfast as I’ve been looking for Ackee and Saltfish for weeks and was happy to see they had it. The man who initially greeted me was nice and friendly and the lady who rang me up was equally as kind. But the light skinned woman who likely runs the place was nasty, ignorant and rude. The man asked if there was a bigger size for the ackee as I was willing to pay a little more and she answered him and treated him like he was dumb. He had to walk away and leave her to serve me. She was so stingy with the portion as it was $17 to begin with– barely two scoops. I asked about just getting a small curry chicken as well, she gave the cashier a nasty response and insisted she charge me $10 instead of $7. Just put a bad taste in my mouth on a Sunday morning. I will never spend another dollar there.

The food was severely overpriced. The food was not fresh at all and charged me $18 for 4 pieces of small untrimmed oxtails with flavorless rice and beans and overly sweet cabbage, and $15 for a very small portioned, old, overcooked and mediocre Rasta pasta. On top of that the service was not welcoming or friendly at all, and the lady at the front desk had a bad attitude. This took place on Saturday July 3rd around 7pm.
Response to owner:
How will you make it right at my convenience?

This was my first time at this restaurant to purchase a curry chicken rice and peas lunch special advertised for $5.99. After receiving my order which was TO-GO I discovered that I was served gungu peas instead. The chicken was what appeared to be a chicken leg chopped in four pieces which was not simmered in a curry sauce. I was not enjoying my lunch so I trashed it. Also price posted for $5.99 but when checked out they actually charge 6.23 plus tax. My first experience was very disappointing. I have to wonder if it’s really a JA restaurant.

As a vegan obviously there was not going to be a lot of options (which I more than understand). The one vegan option they did have which was the callaloo with food was sooooo good! I’m not big on leaving reviews but the food was so good I had to let the people know! Also the young lady that served me was very pleasant. 10/10 I 100% recommend.

I’ve purchased food here two times in a row, and the food is very authentic. The chef definitely cook it just like Jamaica yard. They deserve five stars.
