Excellent Japanese restaurant with a variety of small and large plates with teishoku options with the larger plates. There are so many delicious items to try from the menu, it’s my favorite place to go with friends for sharing plates. The okonomi brussel sprouts are a must if you’re looking for options. Other favorites: black cod, agedashi tofu, and the pork short ribs. It’s impossible to go wrong with anything.
The staff are always super friendly and can give plenty of sake or Japanese whiskey recommendations. If you can’t decide they have flight options for both as well, which is a great way to try something new.

If you are look for incredible tasting food, fresh fish, Intricate and artistic flavours and most importantly passion from the chefs and staff this is the best place to come. The food was AMAZING , the people who worked there were just as good! Kind, passionate, excited and super fun! You will not be disappointed, if I wasn’t so full I would have ordered even more!! Highly recommend. It’s not cheap, but worth every penny ultimately when the food is impeccable and the staff are incredible! FYI: Charles is a real hoot and extremely knowledgeable. Thanks!! Will come back soon.

Took a gamble and tried a new place, absolutely blown away! The food was incredibly delicious with fresh and unique flavor, the scallops, black cod , and Brussels sprouts were out favorites but all the food was amazing (vegetable agedashi and clams). We did the premium sake flight which was also so good, the yuzu one was the best I’ve ever had. The service was also incredible, our server (Dang Thanh) was so friendly and had the best recommendations. 100% recommend this place!

The food was served hot and the server was nice. That’s about it. Ate here with some friends who were hyping it up to me. The prices are absolutely laughable. The selection are set at what I’d expect to pay in Midtown NYC or in Greenwich. Very much out of step with New Haven and it’s demographics. I chose menu items from the “to share” part of their menu and literally got a meal served to me on dessert-sized plates. I figure the other menu items are served on toothpicks. They didn’t even include rice with my dish, of course. It’s well-known that Japanese people NEVER eat rice with their meals. What a mess.
Visit this place if Panda Express is all you know about Asian food and you wanna feel fancy by dropping $20 on a bowl of arugula you can eat with chopsticks. I won’t be back.

What I remember the most of this birthday dinner was the incredible textures of the food. The house made tofu was out of this world. The best miso soup I’ve ever had. The sushi was delicious and the service impeccable.

Decided to try a new place to us. Our server was outstanding. She let us sample a few different Sake before we decided on a great one. Dinner was understated and simple but good. We had a spectacular Plum Scotch and tried an Apple soda also.

Glory be! What an amazing experience we recently had at Hachiroku. We learned about this place from another foodie friend and really didn’t know what to expect other than potentially getting some fresh sashimi or sushi. This was not that, this was so much more!
This was more of an Omakase style experience, but not exactly Omakase.. I love that there is a sake tasting experience and a variety of sake, which is one of my favorite spirits. Every single dish is delicately and richly prepared. Come to find out that every single item on the dish is edible including the florals and garnishes.
We thoroughly enjoyed the mixed mushroom plate – the sauce it was in was out of this world. My favorite has to be, well everything! The octopus, tuna tartar, chicken karage, sea bass and oddly the little peaches and fruit on each plate! Never had anything like it.
Also, don’t forget to order dessert their Matcha Panna cotta was amazing as well. We hear they are moving to a new location and we cannot wait because we are so excited to visit again.

Absolutely incredible food, both for warm dishes and sashimi. Excellent selection of sake and Japanese whiskey. I will absolutely have to come back as there were so many amazing things to try. Very friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff. Great atmosphere.
