Darrells Diner is a real good breakfast place in your neighbor hood . The service was excellent in every way ., but i do have a pet peeve about my bacon !! The cooks in most of Darrells tend to cook the bacon on the other side of well done where the bacon is so crispy i considered it burned. My favorite lunch sandwich is the BLT . and i always order my fries well done and no salt or seasoning of any kind on them , unfortunately the few times i ordered them they were barely just cooked and on the cold side . Real Bummer !! This review will be continued , i havent given up just yet . I will be back to give it one last try . Hopefully the cooks are reading this and they are willing to lern a better way to cook bacon and fries and its not like the food is that reasonable , prices are a bit high. No photos this time guys but there will be next time.

Darrell’s Diner is a solid, no-frills place for a simple, filling meal. The menu has all the diner basics, and the food came out hot with good portion sizes for the price. I had a classic plate and it was cooked fine—nothing fancy, but dependable and satisfying. Service was friendly and checked in when needed, and the atmosphere felt comfortable and local. It can get busy at peak times, but overall it’s a reliable choice when you want straightforward comfort food.

Darrell’s is one of those places that reminds you why diners still matter. The food is as good as the waitress—warm, welcoming, and genuinely makes your day better. Breakfast portions are absolutely phenominal (in the best Florida welcoming way), home-cooked like someone actually cares if you’re fed and want you to keep coming back. The coffee is strong, hot, and never empty, which already earns major points. If you’re looking for non- fancy, simle and good, look no further. If you want phenomenal breakfast, good people, and to leave full and happy, this is your place.

This was my first time in Darrell’s Diner, and it was an overall pleasant experience. There was nothing extraordinary about this place, but I got a solid meal that was tasty, and not too expensive. It had a classic diner atmosphere. However it was a bit sticky and dirty. Overall a decent place to have a quick meal.

I ordered a club sandwich with turkey on whole wheat bread with a side of fries. Interestingly, it costs extra to have both ham and turkey on the sandwich, which is unusual. However it was fairly priced so I can’t complain. At least the hot sauce was free.

The sandwich had a nice presentation and was cut into 4 little triangles. All the ingredients tasted fresh and satisfying. The sandwich tasted homemade, not ultra-processed and rushed. Nothing super special, but overall a good sandwich. It was loaded with turkey, but there wasn’t too much tomato, lettuce or bacon. However there was enough to be enjoyed. In my opinion, club sandwiches often have too much mayonnaise, but this one had a tasteful amount.

My side of French fries was disappointing. They were hot and soggy; not crispy at all. They weren’t too generous with them either (probably a good thing). The fries were definitely the weakest part of this meal.

I would consider my time at Darrell’s Diner a generally positive experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the ingredients for my sandwich. My expectations were met for a nice chill breakfast diner. I would return to Darrel’s.

We’ve been going by for almost two years now. I kept saying to my wife, we should go there. After many missed attempts I have only one regret…it took almost two years to stop in. Wish we had done it sooner!!! Had the special which was peach French toast with eggs and bacon. My wife had the TBR wrap with fries. All of it was great. Service was above average, thank you Charlie for an amazing first time! If you like or love cozy Ma and Pa style diners then give this one a chance because we are going back tomorrow because of an appointment. We are 40 minutes away and would take this over other places. Oh, one thing of note about the peach compote and whipped cream, they were chef quality. Huge surprise!!!!

Second time coming here and always have been busy. I believe is really popular in this area. It’s a real American restaurant. The waitress are always nice and kind but there not enough in order to give a better service talking about waiting time. It’s not my favorite style food (I like more healthy food lol) but it’s my boyfriend’s style so he loves it. He got waffles with scrambled eggs and bacon and he said it was yummy!

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Kaylee was our server, and she was very attentive. Their breakfast special today was a meat lovers quiche, however we went with our traditional favorites. I had the triple cheese omelette, my husband had the biscuits and gravy. I feel like this is a place that the locals go to. If we are in Ocala again we will definitely come back.

Service was great. The waitress was so sweet, but my eggs were not what I ordered. I ordered an omelette. It was like an egg sandwich with meat in the middle and then my husband‘s food had egg shells in it.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch on a whim. I was attracted to the picture of a dog saying “doggone good food”. Apparently Darrell’s is a chain of restaurants with multiple locations in the Marion, Sumter, and The Villages area, which I have never heard of before. They are open for breakfast and lunch. My friend described it as a real diner. It has customer restrooms, free off street parking. They accept cash, credit and debit cards as payment. Menu is not robust: one double sided menu coveted the extent of the items, but it has common breakfast and lunch options, which was good enough for us. I didn’t see that alcohol was served (which makes sense for their operations hours). The tables and dinnerware were clean, staff were friendly. It did take awhile for my bacon and Eggs to arrive while my friend’s bacon cheeseburger that also took a bit too long, arrived way before mine. It wasn’t busy, so the delay and gap in service of the 2 meals didn’t make sense, but the food was good enough when it did get here. They air conditioned inside dining, and a few outside table with a prominent bowl of water for guest dogs. I wouldn’t object to going back another time. It was okay.

Great food, friendly family atmosphere, affordable prices. The BLT, sweet potato fries, and onion rings were fantastic!
