I attended the story tellers event tonight. I’d never been here. What I found was a charming restaurant/bakery/bar that provided excellent food and a lovely experience. The chef is passionate about food and providing high quality offerings.

1. There is a 15% “gratuity” added to orders as shown attached. There is a small sign in the top right saying this can be removed upon request, but that should be in the top left where people who read left-to-right are more likely to notice it and be bigger, and shouldn’t be added at all. I don’t like forced tipping. Tips create an incentive for waiters to be helpful and this removes that incentive. Be prepared, and feel free to ask that this be removed, as their is zero table service. 2. The screen for an additional tip is in the order of most to least: 7%, 5%, 3%, seemingly trying to trick people to pick 7%. 3. It took 8 minutes to get the almond croissant that we asked at 2:38 p.m. to have warmed up despite there being no other customers, and I didn’t get it until I inquired about it. A behind-the-counter person said this was because they heat it in an oven and don’t have a microwave, but I think he just forgot. I won’t go back.

my boyfriend + i visited last week and had a lovely time. our server was phenomenal and gave us great recs for wine and cheese! we ordered the 3 cheese plate and the sourdough w/ za’atar butter and the innocu red blend.
now, i typically never leave reviews (even though i probably should), but i wanted to send to the world and to the folx at bar room how amazing this place is – it’s so good that the morning after we dined here, my boyfriend woke up and said “I had a dream that I was covered head to toe with that za’atar butter and it was awesome!”
you can’t make that up.
we love good food, and as a baker, I really loved the bread that was served. this place isn’t boastful, but is incredibly tasteful and tasty:)

Why does black bear only have 17 reviews? This is hands down the best coffee and bakery and pretty much any place to get food in 100 mi radius! We’ve loved everything on the menu and come here every single day when we visit
