I was in town for the week and a coworker recommended trying out Grounded instead of going to Starbucks. WOW. This place is so beautiful inside I could see myself coming back to read a book and drink some excellent coffee. I got a quad latte and it’s the best coffee I’ve had while visiting Iowa for work (and $3 cheaper than the same thing at Starbucks). I will be back every day I’m in town. What a great find.

Great place to bring the kids along! I brought my 7yo daughter on a date. She loved the play kitchen area. They have games, books, and puzzles as well. I will definitely be back!

What an inviting and comfortable place – and such a creative reuse of an important historic commercial building in downtown Marshalltown! The scones were gorgeous, the hot drinks were yummy, and the baristas were friendly and efficient. Can’t ask for more than that. I’ll be back.

Very cool place with local options from other vendors. The staff was great and the cinnamon roll was amazing! My co-worker has been there every day for a hot chocolate since he tried one.

I’ve been to a lot of coffee shops, from NYC to Chicago. This one has some of the best scones I’ve had. While they don’t push the limits of what a scone can be (no ube matcha, chocolate rosemary oddball combos), basics are done right and well in a space that honors its history well. The cinnamon rolls are delicious, too. It’s a cozy space. Marshalltown needed a good coffee shop. There’s plenty of coffee shops in Marshalltown but they needed a good one with locally roasted coffee. A selection of pour overs would be a welcomed edition down the road!

We chose Grounded on Main Street in Marshalltown for a Valentine’s Day coffee date, and it was the perfect way to start our day. The place was alive – busy with a line to the door- but we didn’t mind as it gave us time to check out the February drink specials and admire the muffins and scones. My strawberry matcha and hubby’s Nuts for You latte were delicious. Even with the crowd, we were able to find a table, relax and enjoy our conversation. The atmosphere is welcoming and upbeat…we’ll be back!
