Pulled up at 11:58 (google maps insisted that the hot water coffee shop was on the west side of Main Street when in reality it is on the east side of Main Street tucked between a fitness club and City Hall) so after 10 min of driving in circles I find a local to ask…. “Oh yeah the coffee shop is tucked in between the fitness club and city call just in the east side of Main Street”…. Finally I find the place and as I am 5 from the door an employee flips the “Open” sign to “Closed” -smiling at me while they do it.
First off, incredibly rude to flip the sign to closed as someone’s trying to get into your establishment (for something as simple as a cup of coffee that is… I’m not filing for a new passport here), but to smile at me while they do it???? That is just devilish.
Next, they spent the next 30 min cleaning up, letting customers leave as they please.
My biggest upset here is that they close AT NOON ON SATURDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They should just NOT be a coffee shop. As a business owner myself I make sacrifices to keep my customers happy. Owning a coffee shop and closing at noon do not go hand in hand. I’ll never return. They lost me at “closes at 12pm”

Best coffee shop in the world, not a lie. Nicest staff, best coffee I’ve had. The menu has tons of choices for whatever you are feeling that day. I love their banana bread blended coffee and their cinnamon bun. The local artists use their walls to sell art, so there’s always new artists to discover while waiting for your coffee. This location used to be an old library so the feel is very comfortable.

Very cute coffee shop with good food and great coffee! I didn’t realize they’ve been around since the year 2000 – how neat for Annandale! Definitely check it out if you’re in town!

We love visiting this coffee shop, especially on Saturday mornings in the summer when the farmers market is right outside it. The coffee is excellent and the baked goods are delicious. It’s a cute place with a cozy small town vibe inside.

This is the only coffee shop I’ve ever been to where the barista doesn’t serve you coffee. They hand you an empty cup, and say you can serve it yourself. Then are asked for a tip. The seating area and ambiance are nice.

I absolutely love this place! I’ve been a few times and each time I’m pleasantly surprised with their offerings. Not only does their menu offer variety but everything is delicious and hand crafted.
The best part about this place is how deep their community ties run. They offer a small community food pantry, a free little library, and a hygiene closet for the local schools.
Every community needs a place like In Hot Water. Well done to the owners and those who work here and support this business.
