Great barbecue!!! Customers and staff treat everyone with friendliest conversation. Their catfish is very good and the overall quality of the salad bar is fantastic. I got to visit them every two weeks. Just see how everyone is and taste a different menu item. Smiles are important to me and I get a lot with each visit!

The food was okay. I didn’t really like the sides and the macaroni and cheese didn’t taste homemade. The meat tasted better. I had the ribs and pulled pork, however, a little more flavor/seasoning would have been nice. Both the pulled pork and ribs were somewhat tender though. The service was okay as well. I’m thinking since I visited on Sunday it was just a busier time to visit. I’m not sure I will visit again to try other options.

Had a business lunch here, food was good but nothing overly impressive. Had the chopped chicken plate with macaroni and cheese and French fries the mac and cheese was the best part of the meal. The service was great but they were not overly busy. We had dessert the banana pudding was very good but that is expected from a Southern barbecue restaurant. If I were in the area again I would eat there but I would not go out of my way to get this food.

Staff was nice. The food was good, a little bit too salty for my taste, but good. The salad bar was awesome.. Expect a big portion of food (always appreciate it). The only thing that I would like to add, the floor was sticky. The staff tried to clean it but still on my way to the salad bar I could feel it.. Definitely I’ll go back

Mediocre at best. After seating had to wait for service. Lost our order, no salads till meal arrived. The appetizers we’re spot on and glad they came early. A total of 2 hours from seated till meal. Brisket was good but cool. Mac and cheese you can’t go wrong.

The BBQ here was surprisingly good! The place has a really nice feel, the country music is a nice touch to one of best places to eat BBQ this side of the mountain. The service was very friendly and informative. The new owners have gone the extra mile in many areas. The bar was a nice touch. Great selection on beers, but the food is really worth the visit. If your local check them out. Travelers just know no real good choice for BBQ for another 25+ miles, this place is worth a try.

I enjoyed eating here. There are a lot of BBQ restaurants in the Birmingham area, making competition pretty tough. With that said, this is probably in the top 10 for me. The food was good, as were the portion sizes. Price was a little above average but not bad.

Great food and friendly service! I had barbecue pork and fries. Fries are homemade, not factory frozen. It is a clean and pleasant place to eat. Easy to talk as you eat because there is no loud or distracting music:)

Johnny Rays Chelsea is AMAZING!!! The food and service is awesome! They have a welcoming and clean establishment! The Green family has done a great job, and even brought back the salad bar! You should definitely give them a try!
