Went with a group for the Devour Indy experience. We waited maybe 20 minutes for a table as it was quite busy. Service was as fast as it could have been for the night. I got the wildflower burnt ends, Korean bbq sandwich with side of mac n cheese, and Dubai sundae off the Devour Indy menu. The burnt ends were truly the star of the menu! Everything else was good, but really could not compare to the appetizer. Another person in the group got the coconut matcha swiss roll, and that was delicious. The total I paid (~$47) included the 3 courses, 1 beer, and 22% tip.

Absolutely loved our visit to Half Liter BBQ & Beer Hall! The mac and cheese was creamy, rich, and seriously addictive, one of the best sides I’ve had anywhere. The fatty brisket and pulled pork were both incredibly flavorful and perfectly smoked, and the house sauces were a great complement without overpowering the meat.

Drink options were top notch with huge beers (like, liter-sized!), lemon shake up canned cocktails, and an impressive selection of bourbons, wines, and rotating drafts from Big Lug Brewing. Something for everyone.

The vibe is fun and relaxed, perfect for groups or casual hangs. Highly recommend stopping in if you’re a BBQ fan or just want great drinks and sides in a lively spot.

Amazing menu! Beer and food well exceeded expectations. Loved the brisket grilled cheese and the twice baked potatoes. Awesome service and atmosphere. Good place to watch NfL games

Went on a busy unseasonably warm Saturday and it was understandably busy. No big deal. Our server was friendly but was stretched pretty thin. No big deal. After hearing so much about their food from others, I have to say it was a disappointment to my party. The meats were relatively flavorful but very dry. The greens were sweet(?) in a bad way. The other sides were passable, but no better than chain restaurants. The breaded tenderloin was also dry and dark (old grease/overcooked?)and the bun disintegrated as I attempted to eat it. Overall, everything was ok, but certainly well below expectation given their reputation. I don’t drink, so maybe their alcoholic beverages are where they really shine. The space is nice and the staff was friendly and doing their best. Given the hassle to find parking and the mid quality/value, we probably won’t go back. Your mileage may vary.

Amazing place that we never knew was there. One of the BEST Indiana Tenderloins I have had. The atmosphere was lively and just an overall great experience.

I’ve been here twice in the past 2 weeks with my girlfriend. The overall impression was great both times and I think that’s their standard. From the moment I walked in I was greeted and given a choice of seats. The first time I chose to sit upstairs and the second time downstairs. All the staff I met were very good. Some even complimented me because they liked my shirt. The food was delicious, not expensive and the portions were very filling. I would highly recommend !!!

Half Liter BBQ: Where Smoke Meets Scene in Broad Ripple
5301 Winthrop Ave, Indianapolis

Tucked just off the Monon Trail, Half Liter BBQ is more than a pit stop—it’s a destination. On a Monday afternoon, the crowd was already swelling by 1 p.m., signaling a loyal following and strong midday appeal.

The layout caters well to Indiana’s fickle weather: a sprawling outdoor patio, ample indoor seating, and large garage doors that create a seamless flow between the two. The space strikes a balance between casual comfort and controlled chaos. It’s lively, a bit loud, but never overwhelming.

Service is quick and confident, and the menu is ambitious—covering everything from smoked staples to bar snacks and sides that attempt to go beyond the usual.

We began with the burnt ends. Nicely charred, tender, and served on a slice of Texas toast, they hit all the right notes. The combo platters followed—one meat and two meat options—with pulled pork, brisket, and wings. The brisket was the standout: juicy, deeply smoked, and well-rendered. Pulled pork was nearly as good, though less distinctive. Wings were flavorful, if undersized.

Sides were hit or miss. The mac & cheese was excellent—rich, creamy, with real depth. Collard greens had an unusual hint of barbecue sauce that may divide purists. The baked beans, unfortunately, leaned too heavily on a ketchup-like base. Brussels sprouts were polarizing: roasted well, but the flavor profile felt unfinished.

Despite a few culinary stumbles, the overall experience is warm, family-friendly, and worth repeating. Half Liter nails the basics and dares to stretch beyond them, with mixed results. It’s a place that knows its audience and feeds them well—casual, confident, and just refined enough.

I highly recommend the banana pudding. It was so good. I don’t normally get dessert in any restaurant because it’s almost always too sweet, but this was just right. It was so good that I had to get one to go.

This place is also dog-friendly. They provide white little bowls for you to put water/food in it.

We went there just before 6pm and the place was quiet then, but the more time passed, the noisier the place was (they had music playing loud too).

Sadly this was a letdown. The BBQ was dry and arrived barely warm, which shouldn’t happen at these prices. Drinks were $12 each and came in small glasses — definitely didn’t feel like we got what we paid for.

We don’t mind paying more for good food, but the quality and portion sizes just didn’t match the cost.
