We stopped at Friendly Amigo on our way to Venice hoping for some good Haitian food, and this was honestly the worst experience I’ve had at a Haitian restaurant. Most of the menu was unavailable when we arrived. I spoke Creole clearly—I’m a native speaker—and the woman taking orders still seemed confused and nervous when I asked for something as simple as chicken with rice and plantains. Another customer had to jump in and say “poulet complet,” like I was asking for something unusual.

They charge extra for pikliz, and the portion was tiny. The chicken had a strange smell, like it wasn’t cooked properly, and the patè filling was dry. When I asked what was in it, the cashier couldn’t even tell me.

I won’t be returning. This place needs serious improvement—from customer service to food quality. Worst experience I’ve had with Haitian food.

I always order from ubereats, the food is really good (best haitian restaurant in food quality) and once I talked to customer service and the lady was kind. It was a different story another day! I would highly recommend them

Hello,
I hope this message finds you well. I would like to report a situation that occurred during my visit to the restaurant. I had an interaction with a staff member who spoke to me in a manner that was not appropriate or professional. The tone was offensive, and it was difficult to communicate with them both in person and over the phone. This affected my experience as a customer.

I am not sending this message to create a problem, but I believe it is important to inform you, because the way employees communicate has a strong impact on the restaurant’s image. I hope my feedback will help improve customer service for future guests.

Thank you for taking the time to review my concern.

My cousin bought their bouyon for me when I was sick and couldn’t eat! It was very filling and delicious. They only serve this dish during certain times during the week so I was grateful to my cousin for dropping this to me! I will be ordering this again!

Devil’s advocate here: As an American, I only recently acquired a taste for Haitian food. Not that it’s bad, but it’s just not something I ate growing up. But I’ve eaten it enough to know when it’s flavorful and coming from a good cook versus Haitian food that’s the exact opposite. Currently, I live downtown Naples (George Washington apartments) so I’m right across the street from a Haitian restaurant. I’ve had their food enough to know that the food is okay, very greasy though. And the restaurant has no working air conditioning. At this restaurant, however, I had one of the best experiences yet had from a Haitian restaurant. There was a good selection of music playing, the lady taking our order was very nice, there was a line of people waiting (which to us means the food must be good), the food was cooked fresh, the griot wasn’t too greasy, and the rice was nicely seasoned. My only complaint was that I saw a roach crawling across the floor while I was dining in. But the food was so good I didn’t even care. 10/10 highly recommend

Customer service should be the same for all customers regardless if you speak Creole or not.

I ordered food more than 1 hour ago and when I came to get my food they made me wait for 40 minutes
When I was talking to the waitress she made me understand that I shouldn’t talk too much if I couldn’t wait

Food is pretty good better than the other restaurant that are in collier county. The only negative I have is when I call to place an order, I am told that it will be ready in 15 minutes. I get there in 15 minutes and I had to wait an additional 15 more minutes for my food. I found it better to just go there and place the order on site and wait for it. Customers service can improve but that goes for most Haitians restaurants.

I’ve been coming here for years since I was a child. The woman who owns this establishment is very sweet and hardworking. If you know anything about Haitian culture they can be very stoic at times and they mean no harm by it.It’s truly just they way they are.If you need something just ask, they’ll give it to you.If you need to order go to the counter first order and let them know you want sit in and eat, if you had a call in order go to the counter and let them know you called in and they should have it out momentarily. Most of the people commenting are mad at someone directly in the restaurant or probably haven’t been there before and don’t understand the way it operates or couldn’t get their way and decided to leave a nasty comment.I recommend their chicken, turkey or gryo plate they all taste great!
