I found the perfect place for lunch following yesterday’s all day tailgate and victory over the University of Texas!
If you’re looking for delicious comfort food, then Boss Dawg is the place. A quaint and laid-back establishment (indoor and outdoor dining) with incredibly kind & attentive wait staff. Is a place you should try.
My lunch consisted of fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes & gravy, garden salad, roll and sweet tea all for under $18.
Boss Dawg BBQ exceeded my expectations.

Boss Dawg is the best BBQ we’ve ever had. Our go-to is the brisket, but everything on the menu is delicious. The weekday lunch menu is so good too!! The staff is kind and helpful. We go there at least once a week and look forward to it!

The fried chicken was the best I have ever had in my life!! It was so amazing I had to ask how they made it. You can’t do this at home – you need to come to Boss Dawg! It is absolutely worth your time. Everything I had was wonderful (collards, creamed corn, biscuit) but the chicken was truly exceptional. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in the area. Thanks for a great meal and friendly service!

We were on the way to the safari and wanted barbecue. We went to a place that we chose and I have never been. It was closed for Christmas weekend. Googled barbecue near me and there was Sonny’s and Boss Dawg Barbecue. We chose Boss Dawg! The food, atmosphere and service were fantastic! 3 of us got ribs, 1 got a burger, 1 got smoked buffalo wings and 1 got a pulled pork sandwich. It was all great. The ribs fell off the bone. All the sides were good too. Mac and cheese, fries, and coleslaw. Our waitress was one of the owners. She brought us samples of chicken mule and brisket. Both were very flavorful. We will definitely be back!

Their Chicken Mull is amazing. But their customer service is better. I bought 2 quarts on saturday for a family member that has suffered a loss and before I got to Athens Tech I ended up slamming on breaks and the whole bag flew into my floor. So I went back to the resturant to buy more. They graciously gave me a replacement and the paper towels to clean up my car. I dont come often. They dont know me- this wasnt special treatment. This was just how they treat a regular customer. Thank you Boss Dawg!

If I could give them more stars I would, I have tried a lot of bbq since I moved down south and quite frankly it’s all been mediocre. Not here. Boss Dawg may be some of the best bbq I’ve had in a very long time. The ribs fall off the bone and melt in your mouth, the pull pork is perfectly smoked. And the brisket is full of flavor. Not a single piece of meat I have tried has fallen short of excellence. Really good stuff. I ordered the Christmas special and let me tell you. Best meal I have had in a long time . (My sides are in the picture) which are a family recipe. But they also just started doing sides are also delicious!

Visiting from out of town due to hurricane evacuations and ran up on this little place. Some of the best brisket I’ve ever tasted and solid sides. Laid back atmosphere and friendly service. Diverse menu of bbq options and a tasty line up of sauces on the table.

My in laws chose this place to have lunch after church today. The menu is small, there’s were only a couple of meats to choose from. We had to wait a long time, which I could have understood the wait if what we had been served had actually been cooked recently, but I was brought a very greasy piece of fried chicken, something that looked like mashed potatoes but was actually potato salad and fried okra. The okra was good, but the rest was nasty. My poor father in law ordered the smothered pork chop, which was about the equivalent amount of meat you would get from a single chicken wing. Our waitress was not very polite or bright. We had to wait a long time for refills, in fact I almost refilled them myself as the machine is right in the middle of the dining area. Then we ordered desserts, and had to wait an additional 20 minutes for that to come out. I rate this place about one level down from Cracker Barrel. Maybe it’s different when it isn’t a busy Sunday but I won’t be going back to find out.

First time going and I really enjoyed it the rib plate is definitely a 5 star. And there mac and cheese and slaw very delicious it’s rare to find some good slaw. Definitely would go again.
