The bartender Ricardo is amazing!! I told him what I liked and he gave me such a yummy recommendation to try. He is such an amazing and thoughtful bartender! You can tell he knows what he’s doing but also cares about the craft and making the drink delicious. The bar is a vibe and seems like a cool place. Come visit Ricardo!!

Great speakeasy! We loved it! We love going to speakeasy in NYC and this place is on par with NYC’s speakeasies. Hidden, great entrance with a passcode, inside was well decorated, drinks were unique- they talked to us before they made the drinks that suited us- pretty cool, dimmed, great food, staff was supper friendly. Only downside was that the band that was supposed to show up for live music cancelled last minute so that’s the only reason for the 4. This place was amazing. Thank you so much for a great date night.

False Advertising and Total Failure of a “Speakeasy”

This place should not call itself a speakeasy.

According to their website, they are strict about dress code, reservations, and no large parties. None of that was enforced. People arrived wearing sports clothes, tennis shoes, and flip-flops, and a group of more than 10 people was allowed in. That group was loud, drunk, and screaming, completely destroying any speakeasy ambiance.

We had a reservation booked one week in advance for 2 tables of six, yet by 8:30 pm, we were told no food was available, despite the bar being almost empty. The water was already on the table when we arrived and tasted strongly of chlorine, with no ice.

The waitress was clearly new, untrained, and unprepared. She did not know the menu, didn’t know how to take an order properly, and provided no guidance whatsoever.

There was one bartender Ricardo, who took over an hour to prepare cocktails and showed no sense of urgency or care. The dramatic cocktail descriptions sounded impressive, but the drinks did not match the descriptions at all. Because of the delays, we were never even able to properly toast or celebrate our friend.

The charcuterie board took forever and arrived with an absurd amount of cheese and only six pieces of bread. To make things worse, part of the food we ordered never arrived at all.

The live jazz band advertised and promised never showed up. When asked, the staff responded with: “I don’t know, they were supposed to be here. I don’t have their phone number.” That level of disorganization is unacceptable.

At the en if the night, we were shocked to receive a check close to $600 for two tables, despite each person only having one cocktail and shared food.
The bartender, Ricardo, approached us and said: “Well, sorry, we really tried tonight! It wasn’t the best, but we tried.” Honestly, that comment made the experience even more frustrating. I can’t imagine how bad it would have been if they hadn’t “tried.”That statement perfectly summarizes the problem — trying is not enough when everything fails.

I would not recommend this place for a speakeasy experience.
This is not a speakeasy. It’s a poorly run bar hiding behind a concept it does not deliver.
Do not recommend.

I deeply regret choosing this venue to celebrate my husband’s birthday. What was supposed to be a special evening with friends turned into a very embarrassing and disappointing experience.

We made a reservation for 12 people and informed the venue well in advance that this was a birthday celebration. Despite this, we were made to wait upon arrival, and the waitress attempted to split our group into two separate tables in different areas, even though there was clearly enough space to seat us together, especially since only two tables were occupied at the time.

Service throughout the night was terrible. Drinks took an extremely long time to arrive, were half-filled, and the birthday guest—was the last person to receive his drink.Because of the excessive wait time, we were unable to order additional drinks, as it took so long just to receive the first round.
Food service was just as poor. The waitress actively promoted the steak and fries plate to the table, yet when we attempted to order, only three people were able to get it, and the rest of my guests were told they had run out. Plates arrived late and inconsistently, and the shared charcuterie board, which was advised we wanted to share, arrived last and was a complete disappointment for a $60 item. If a venue cannot fulfill food orders, they should not be offering food at all.

The bill came to around $700, and given the level of service and food quality, it was totally overpriced. On top of that, an automatic gratuity was added, which felt completely unjustified due to the terrible service.

The biggest disappointment was the lack of live jazz music, which was the main reason we booked this place. After 9:30 PM, I asked the bartender about it and received a rude and dismissive response, stating “I don’t know” and that he did not have their contact information. Customer service is clearly not a priority here.

The dress code was also misleading. The venue stated “beyond casual,” specifically no jeans, T-shirts, or tennis shoes. I felt so embarrassed with my friends as I asked them to follow the place dress code only to arrive and see other guests were allowed wearing exactly what the dress code claimed was not permitted. The venue became very loud and crowded and felt more like a bar hidden inside another bar—nothing upscale or refined.

To make matters worse, the water served was warm and unpleasant. The menus were torn and stained. The waitress promoted the steak and fries plate because it included ice cream and churros, yet those items were never brought out until we reviewed the bill andhad to requested them.

This venue is overpriced, poorly managed, lack of customer service, and does not deliver what it advertises. I would strongly advise against booking this place for anything special for celebration or special events.

A reservation was made for 12 people. The person in charge of reservations could not accommodate a single reservation for 12, but instead would make two reservations for 6 people each. That sounded perfectly fine.

We arrived last night with our full group of 12 at the reserved time. We provided both reservation confirmations and were told we needed to wait because the restaurant was “extremely busy” and that they would let us know when our tables were ready. That already raised a red flag. If reservations are made days in advance and the restaurant operates by reservation only, how are the tables not ready at the scheduled time?

About 10 minutes later, we were told we could enter. To our surprise, the restaurant was almost completely empty—two people at the bar and one table with three men. That was it.

The two reserved tables were placed separately. Considering we were a group of 12 with two reservations of 6, it would be logical to seat us together. We had to request this, and although the restaurant was empty, they gave us some pushback before finally accommodating us.

When we sat down, the tables already had water glasses served. Personally, I find it very unprofessional to arrive at a restaurant and find water that has already been sitting there, with no idea how long it had been or who may have touched it.

Then came the menus. They were paper sheets, stained, torn, and folded. This was very disappointing for a restaurant that presents itself online as an upscale, high-expectation establishment.

Now, let’s talk about the dress code. The website clearly states elegant/business attire and lists what is not allowed. However, we saw people walking in wearing Christmas T-shirts, Christmas jackets, flip-flops, and very casual clothing. They advertise a dress code, but clearly do not enforce it.

As for the food and drinks—the cocktails are extremely overpriced. There was only one bartender, and it took an excessive amount of time for drinks to arrive. For the price, the cocktails were not even served as full glasses.

One table ordered food first. Three people ordered the steak and fries, which comes with churros and ice cream. When the second table of six tried to order the same dish, they were told there were only three left. This is unacceptable. Going to a restaurant and being told that an advertised dish is almost unavailable is a terrible experience. In the end, the steak and fries had to be shared so everyone could at least try it.

By 9:30 PM, the live jazz music never happened. The website clearly advertises live jazz on Fridays and Saturdays, which was one of the main reasons we chose this restaurant to celebrate my friend’s birthday—he loves jazz. This was another major disappointment.

No one was able to order a second cocktail because it would take over 30 minutes for each drink to arrive, one at a time. Overall, the experience was horrible. Way too expensive for what the restaurant actually offers.

To make matters worse, the churros and ice cream that came with the steak and fries were never served. We only noticed when the bill arrived, and we had to ask for them to go.

In short, everything advertised on their website is misleading. They use fancy words to describe an “exclusive” and “unique” experience, but the reality is far from that. Unprofessional staff, dirty and torn paper menus, limited food availability, excessive delays, no live music, and a very high bill at the end.

This is one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had. If I could give zero stars, I would—but unfortunately, one star is the lowest option, and that’s all they deserve.

Don’t do it. Went in on a Saturday at 8. Took 30mins to order and an hour to get 7 drinks (drinks came at 9:28). We were also missing one drink. We were once of 4-5 tables. Most other groups were 2-4 people, so it wasn’t even busy. Server beer came back to even offer water. I had to get up to get my own water.

Really disappointed with the service more than anything else. We were a party of 12 with 8:00 pm reservations but were not given a table until 8:30 and when they finally sat us, the place was empty. The server had no clue, she gave us a drink menu to order food and then was shocked that there was a second menu for food like it was her first day. The bartender was the worst. I’ve been a bartender and a bar manager at two restaurants and this person has no business behind a bar on a Fri night. It took about 25 minutes for a few drinks to arrive and then about 30 minutes for more drinks to arrive. He came with a whiskey flute but we never ordered it and told him that we did not order it. He argued and argued until someone just agreed to take it. This was about an hour after we had been seated and a few people at our table still had not received their drinks. I don’t drink alcohol so I tried the water and it tasted like it was from a swimming pool from all the chlorine and why no ice in the water? The steaks and fries are sizzler quality. The steak was so thin that it would only be well done. The charcuterie board had a few blocks of cheese, several cherry tomatoes and small pickles. Is it me or is that strange? Never saw that before and don’t want to see it again. One person from our table went to the bar to get a drink since no server returned to our table and he waited for about 25 minutes before returning to our table without a drink, the bartender didn’t have time to even acknowledge him. The jazz band that was supposed to play that night never showed up which was a big let down. We waited over three hours and never received the desserts that were supposed to come with the meal so we asked for the check and they gave us ice cream to go which melted in the car. The bartender told us he knew we were upset but at least he was trying. Are you kidding me, we spent over $600 and would have happily spent twice as much for our friends birthday celebration but it was impossible to get a drink or order more food. The speakeasy was pathetically empty for a Friday night and that should have been a red flag. More than anything I am upset for my friends wife that put together a surprise party for her husband’s 50th birthday, you could see how upset she was. He loves jazz and this place seemed great online but no, we were catfished by the pictures online. That whole thing that they have online about a dress code is B.S. The people that came in after us had on flip flops, shorts, clothes like they were going grocery shopping. Why do they even state a dress code? Our party was very well dressed for nothing. The seats were like the old fashioned church pews without any cushions on them. After sitting there for three hours my back was killing me. Could they really not afford seats? How is this place even open? Good to see friends but we will meet somewhere, ANYWHERE, else next time.

The atmosphere is fantastic! The live jazz, the bartender and their many skills. The service can be a bit slow, but it really just gives you time to slow down and enjoy your time.

2nd time here at the Exhibition Room and I have to say that it was as enjoyable as the first time I was here 3 years ago. Walk through Roxanne’s bar straight towards the pool table and make a left at the phone booth. Pick up the phone, buzz it in, yell the person your password, BE PATIENT, then walk in when ready.

The atmosphere is excellent! They open up at 7pm. We had a reservation for 715pm for 6 then for 5 @730pm and all went without a hitch. There was enough room for everyone at our table at this time. About 930 it starts to get very lively! The music starts flowing, live tuba and piano begin playing and the place starts to get a little crowded and loud.

The drinks here are on the pricier side as to be expected, but fantastic! Mixologist know their stuff for sure! Any type of alcohol I threw at them they knew what t make or made it in the fly. From mezcal to your everyday martini they got your drink covered. The wait for drinks start to get long about 930ish because there was only two mixologist working and trying to tend to many, many people at a time SO IF YOU BE PATIENT, WAIT YOUR TURN AND THEY’LL SERVE YOU WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. If you’re going to be impatient while in in here, THEN THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU!

So, come here, ENJOY THE ATMOSPHERE, BE PATIENT AND UNDERSTANDING, get your drink on and hang out.

CHEERS!
