Reviews
From the moment you walk in, the design and atmosphere grab you. It’s vibrant, fun, and genuinely inviting—the kind of place where you want to linger over a second drink.
The service was a highlight. It felt remarkably authentic, including a charming moment where my waiter and I had a bit of a language barrier. It added to the soul of the place; we communicated through smiles and pointing, and everything arrived exactly as requested.
The meal started with a bit of a “meh.” The standard chips and salsa are average at best, lacking that “can’t-stop-eating-this” quality.
Pro Tip: Ask for the special-order hot salsa. It has a much better kick and depth than the house.
If you’re a fan of agave spirits, this is your playground. The margarita menu is extensive, offering plenty of creative twists. I went for a classic, and it was mixed perfectly—not too sweet, not too tart, just the right amount of bite.
What we loved – they had a spicy salsa my husband could eat (the regular has cilantro which is a no-go for us). I ordered the Zason Special. The steak, chicken, & shrimp were all seasoned and prepared wonderfully. The rice and beans were also a good flavor and texture. The tortillas definitely eat like fresh-made.
What we didn’t love – my husband ordered the Chimis con Fajitas. They were more like a flauta & tasted almost wholly of onion. An ingredient the menu didn’t list. While one may generally guess that a dish with “fajita” in the name will have onions, the lack of mention of any fajita vegetables did mean we ordered something we were less-satisfied with. While my dish tasted great, the steak and chicken are served stacked whole on one another with only a table knife for cutting. While their preparation meant I didn’t need much more, others may have some difficulty navigating this dish.
Service
What we loved – everyone was friendly and busy in helping the service go smoothly. We went at 5pm on a Saturday and there was about a 10 minute wait for a table. From the time we were seated until we had food took about 30-35 minutes; which, considering how busy they were, seemed well within reason. Our drinks were never empty, our bill came promptly, and our food was correct.
What we didn’t love – nothing. They were excellent, especially for opening week.
Atmosphere
What we loved – the entryway tells a story of welcoming you in at Owasso, OK, and transporting you to a bustling restaurant in Manuel Doblado, Guanajuato, MX, in a beautiful mural & façade styling. They’ve even revived the long-defunct fountain. Even with the restaurant at capacity, the noise was not overwhelming. It was easy to carry on conversation and even still hear the background music.
What we didn’t love – while the entryway tells a story, the main dining area lacks real personality. It could be any Mexican restaurant anywhere. Instead of the four TVs in the dining area, it would be nice to continue the theme from the entryway into the space. Additionally, anyone who might be coming to the space with any sort of mobility aide may struggle to navigate through the seating. It is set up for high capacity seating, which means walkways are narrow between the central tables and side booths.
We had Kendalla as our server and she was great!
