Wanted to try something different after my wife’s appointment this morning, and Cuban seemed like a good option.
I had the Desayuno Caballero Plate. My wife had the La Gordita Open-faced toast. Both dishes were delicious and well presented on the plates. The Cuban bread on my plate was absolutely amazing, and should be sold separately as a “To Go” option.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They took the time to give us a solid introduction to their menu items, and even made the recommendations that we ended up choosing. Met the owner while we were there; very nice guy. Since it was our first visit, he gave my wife a complimentary Cuban coffee as a thanks for coming in this morning.
The store is clean and quiet. Can definitely see us going there again.

Felt a little peckish after an appointment so we spun the wheel of food and decided to try this Cuban bistro.
All staff members were wonderful, including the owner, which made the dining experience great. We recieved multiple recommendations for menu items to try. We went with the Desayuno Caballero Plate, the La Gordita Open-face Toast, water and coffee. Everything was fantastic. The Cuban bread on the Desayuno Caballero Plate was top tier delicious. We will definitely be going back to try other menu items. Shout out to the staff and owner of 1928 Cuban Bistro. Thanks for an amazing experience.

I am literally obsessed with this place. I’ve lived across the street for way too long and can’t believe I never walked in sooner — because once I did, I haven’t stopped ordering. The service is amazing, everyone is so kind and sweet, and the vibe just feels welcoming from the moment you walk in.
But the food… oh my God. I could eat this every single day. The Cuban bread is unreal — fresh, warm, and addictive. And don’t even get me started on the guava pastries… I have zero self-control around them
Honestly, my only complaint is that if I keep coming here, I will gain weight — but I’m okay with that because it’s 100% worth it. This place is perfect for breakfast or lunch, and the portions are huge. One sandwich alone will keep you full for the rest of the day.
If you haven’t tried Cuban Bistro 1942 yet, do yourself a favor and go. Trust me — you’ll be hooked.

The food is absolutely delicious and tastes like authentic larin cuisine. We love it here!

We always like to try the flavor of the region we’re visiting. While visiting Jacksonville, FL, we stopped by the 1928 Cuban Bistro off of Baymeadows. It’s a small quaint little place, but there is nothing small about the way they welcome you in like family, and there is definitely nothing small about those huge, hot, flavorful, and delicious Cuban sandwiches, and the side of hot and crunchy yuca steak cut fries with the the three dipping sauces. I thought it would be no problem eating an entire sandwich, and I really wanted to, but I just couldn’t do it, because it was so filling. Another reason we couldn’t do it was because we were saving room for the Guava and Cheese pastry which was flaky and delicious as well. The good thing about this is that we both had some leftover for dinner. WIN, WIN! Go get you some!!!!

I have been in many cuban restaurants and this one is spectacularly good. The detail in the plate when served, the flavor and “sazón” is unparalleled. We order “palomilla” was cooked to perfection and juicy and with “arroz congrí”, “platano maduro con queso” and rosted pork was soft, juicy and the sazón was perfect with white rice and black beans soup. I must say that the flavor of the soup impressed me with that touch of smoke that brought back childhood memories. The coffee OMG I loved it the “café con leche” and the Cuban espresso . The service is great and I personally congratulated the cook. We had churros and they were FABULOUS, just as we were expecting. Will be back very soon.

Can’t really speak on this location atmosphere or food because they didn’t even acknowledge we were even there. No, the restaurant was not busy, there were two people picking up and us three. We waited 10 minutes and not a single person asked if we needed anything or asked us to wait. We left and they didn’t even bother to ask. Not returning to the Baymeadows location. I guess will stick to the St. John’s location.
Those ladies are awesome over there.
Honestamente me decepcionó el staff de este local. No fueron muy profesionales. Ni tan siquiera nos presentaron atención y no estaba lleno el restaurante. Solo había dos personas recogiendo su comida. Y nosotros tres.

Every time I visit, the food, drinks, and pastries are always delicious! The Elena Ruth sandwich is so flavorful. The maduros and chai latte are also great. My favorites are the guava and cheese pastry and the guava pastry. They have so much filling and are incredible! The staff is also always so friendly and they’re bilingual. The patio is such a cute place to eat brunch.

We got two plates, gf got beef and I got braised chicken. Both were really good. We also got blueberry pie, it was not overwhelmingly sweet but light, and very refreshing. Everything including service was fantastic. They play music but not overly loud and the place has nice atmosphere to chill and eat.
