I’ve visited this place twice now, and both times I’ve been impressed with the quality of the food – fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Yes, it takes a little time, but that’s because everything is made to order, which they’re upfront about. If you’re expecting something pre-made or super quick, this might not be the right spot but if you’re looking for a thoughtfully prepared meal, it’s well worth the wait.
Some reviews mentioned the coffee not being standout, and I’d agree it’s not their main focus. If you’re after a basic latte, it’s perfectly enjoyable but don’t come expecting a coffeehouse-style menu. That said, the food more than makes up for it.

I was passing through for work and stopped by here thinking it was just coffee shop. What i found instead was so much more. This is a delightful cafe. So cozy inside, the menu description hit every food sense I had. Without having much time to stay and enjoy everything on the menu, I opted to order take out. The choice went to the gyro. The size of the food was enough for 2 people (I did not share any though). It was so delicious.
You can tell from the moment you step through the door this place is a treasure. The menu is beautifully planned out and the food is high quality.
Any time I am back in the area I will be making a beeline for this cafe. I should also note the coffee was wonderful also.

Five star service from the moment we stepped inside. Personal attention from the chef who described his specials and gave recommendations.
The food was better than anything that has graced our palates in recent memory. I had to fight my kids off of my stuffed French Toast. We all three cleaned our plates.
Location was beautiful and comfortable.
Cannot wait to return during our travels.

I really feel like ive been living under a rock because i haven’t tasted something this good in a very long time. Everything about this dish had my taste buds dancing with each and ever bite i took. I forget the gentleman name that took our order , but he was wonderful. Havent had service like that in a very long time. He took the time to tell us in details how he prepared each dish. You can tell with each bite i took this food was made with love and passion. I even took it home and made a sandwich out of the two biscuits i had left over with the very tasteful chicken paddy. Felt like home when you walked in. Very beautifully breath taking view of the river out side. Over all im very impressed and wondering why theres no places like this around my home town in Norwalk. If there is i havent found it yet.

It was my first time eating at the Sandy Hook Cafe and I was impressed by the serene ambiance of outdoor seating overlooking a stream. For brunch I ordered the crab cake over blackened eggs which sounded like a crab cake eggs benedict. It came with a very large side salad. My husband ordered a similar entree with smoked salmon with a dill sauce and capers over blackened eggs. Both were delicious and are highly recommended. Overall it was a great experience. The waitress was friendly and the chef came out and was very welcoming, describing all the dishes. We had been invited by my in-laws to celebrate our anniversary and they must have told him as he wished us a happy anniversary and even gave us complimentary cannolis before we left!

How have I not been here yet!?? Easily one of the best meals I have had in Newtown. I have heard so many times how delicious the food is and how beautiful the atmosphere is. I sat outside and enjoyed some schnitzel and a go on park. The owner Ralph was SO nice and accommodating. With so many different choices on their menu I wasn’t sure what to pick so I went with Schnitzel with potatoes, gravy, onions, red cabbage and beet salad. I can’t even tell you how amazingly delicious this was. I quite literally licked my plate clean. I will be a regular from here on out. If you have not been, get in your car and get over there

So it’s been on my list to try this place and yesterday it happened…being newbies Ralph made us feel very welcomed, and gave us in-depth descriptions of his exquisite menu. MJ and I ordered and enjoyed the spinach omelet with tzaki sauce hash browns and toast or pre meal snack was a toasted corn muffin. Sue our server was timely in her service, the giant mug of coffee was smooth and delicious. We enjoyed our view is the river on this beautiful day while not feeling rushed out. We were later joined on the deck by a two families, one with their large dogs… an awesome concept a pet friendly dining experience. I love the efforts of the management and the food experience was one I will never forget. There was so much love and thought put into the food. Ralph is a passionate chef, with amazing combinations that blend well for the palate. There are vegan options and all sorts of wholesome food choices. A must try and so local… I will be back. The morning glory muffin is on my bucket list !!

Food taste amazing and the size is huuuuuuuge. The way Rauph talk about his food, it’s just make you want to try everything. And THEY ARE GOOOOD and a generous portion.
The staff are nice and even we’re the first time here, we can tell because every table looks like “the friends” then that say something about this restaurant. Last but not least, it’s by a beautiful creek and make everything even more perfect for a sunny afternoon.

This is my second time and the food is always great. The flavor profile for each dish is superb- you can tell the owner cares about food. The space is cute, clean and functional. The only caveat is their kitchen is small and the food takes a while, so come when you’ve got some time to relax and have your coffee. below is the breakfast burrito special

This place is AMAZING! Employees are fantastic, and the food soooooo good. It doesn’t hurt that the prices are on point for the amount of food you get.
