After being served promptly with my families’ order, we sat down to enjoy our custards only to overhear a child crying for her ice cream. This family with 2 kids was waiting patiently for their order while 2 other families who ordered after them were served first. When asked where there order was, they were met with confusion by the employees as to what they ordered and questioned them about a receipt, which as I saw, no one received. After finally getting served the family then simply asked for an extra side of gummy bears with their order to accomodate their long wait time and crying kids after a forgotten order….and shamefully were met with ‘not authorized” as an answer and the worse NO I have ever seen to a crying kid. The insincere apology and fake smile by the employee, who quickly shut the glass window on them, made me want to stand up teach her how to “offer happiness” at their pickup window (sign on window stated “pickup happiness here” but should have read “we dont care that we messed up, you deal with it”). I asked are you the manager, replied rudely as how can i help you….asked again, are you the manager….which a smart person would understand is yes or no….so apparently the ability to have empathy and be “in charge” was not coached to this person. How can a person responsible for a store be in charge of cash for establishment and locking up and training, not be autthorized to give a crying kid gummy bears for the mistake she made. Where is the breakdown? In a world where you can make a kid happy with a smile by providing a gummy bear….Unacceptable. I am choosing to also highlight that this poor customer service was directed towards the only black family there. Perception is everything in customer service and the new employee in training also witnessed this horrible manner of how to treat a customer. Losing the business of two families all over pennies worth of gummy bears to fix your own mistake. DO BETTER.

My family and I ordered and were greeted with kind hospitality and fast service even though it was a little busy. Italian ice was great and so fresh. Will definitely be a top place for us to go to for a treat.

I visited the new West OC Rita’s today and had a great experience! The Gelati and ices were delicious and the staff is top-notch! As we were about to leave, the manager stopped us to check if our order was correct. There was a mistake we hadn’t noticed and she corrected it for us! Will definitely be visiting again soon!
