I attended Brewhouse in Braintree for my company’s Christmas celebration, an event that my boss has been hosting at this location every year for at least the past three years. He is a loyal customer who brings significant business and spending to this establishment. Upon arrival, the person in charge a tall white man approached me and asked for my ID. I politely presented a valid ID, the same type of identification any citizen of Massachusetts carries. Despite this, he stated that due to his “strict policies,” he could not allow me to enter. In reality, this felt like clear discrimination, as I met all legal requirements. The situation was uncomfortable and humiliating. I was prevented from spending time with my coworkers, even though I do not drink alcohol and was simply there to enjoy a company gathering. I had to step outside and was only able to return because my boss personally came to the door to bring me in.
Once inside, my boss spoke directly with this individual, explaining that I am not underage, that this event is held there every year, and that there was no valid reason to deny me entry. When it became clear that his team was not being respected, my boss made it very clear: if you don’t respect my people, you don’t respect me. As a result, we all decided to leave the establishment. My boss, extremely disappointed, spoke with the owner and stated that he would never again book events or support a business that provides such poor and disrespectful service.
Policies are understandable discrimination, lack of judgment, and disrespect toward customers are not. This experience completely ruined what should have been a positive holiday celebration and left a very negative impression of this establishment.

At first it seem inviting but it was empty but somehow I got a vibe once other “folks” started coming in. I am not from Boston. I am from NYC so when others started coming in it felt like “what is your kind” doing around here. One old man was looking at us in disgust. When we spoke a different language the host acted awkward. We were there enjoying and talking and wasn’t even done with our drinks and here she comes with the to go box like alright time to wrap it up. And what makes me more annoyed is the fact that the quesidillas were actually really good. This is what I don’t get about people like this. You serve ethnic food yes quesidillas are Hispanic food yet you act so awkward with cultures that are not like your own. One old nice white lady when we left was about the only thing that made me leave with a smile on my face. And like I said it sucks because the food and drinks are good. I will always be an NYC girl. Diversity will always be my thing so with that being said my husband and I will not return. But kudos to the good food and cheers to the good drinks? I guess…

Hidden gem. I have lived in Braintree for 15 years and was lucky enough to meet friends after a school event and discover the brew house. Great pub pizza and bartenders are the best. Only negative was the “professional” hockey players in the corner who were very nice but had no actual knowledge of the game.

Went here with me and some of my guys on Jan 3, 2025. Wait for food was about 30-45 minutes, our waitress was attentive for drinks and was friendly. However if you are a person of color, don’t be surprised by if you are called or hear some racial remarks by the locals or the staff at this bar. As my friends and I were sitting down drinking some beers, a table next to us came towards us calling us his “little chinese friends”. He seemed to be a regular and well liked by the staff at The Brewhouse, just as a FYI.
Update: 12/17/2025
Clearly the business does not care about their reviews, business, or customers. Seems like this a common experience amongst people of color to be discriminated and face racism when they enter the establishment. Based on the more recent reviews, things haven’t changed and honestly sounds worse. Take some accountability and do better.

The Braintree Brewhouse is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you can tell how much pride the owner takes in this place. The bar and kitchen are immaculate, which is no small feat for a busy establishment like this. Everything is spotless, and you can really feel the care that goes into keeping it that way. It’s not just about appearances either—the cleanliness speaks to the overall high standards that run through the entire operation.
What truly sets the Brewhouse apart, though, is the genuine management. The owner and staff make you feel like family the moment you walk through the door. They’re always around to ensure everything is perfect, and their passion for hospitality shows in every detail. Whether you’re grabbing a beer or sitting down for a meal, you’re always in good hands here.
Amazing food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a level of cleanliness that is unmatched—this place is a must-visit in Quincy!
