Never been to Tangier but came for a short visit with a friend. Food and service were great. Our server was friendly and prompt. Wait time was minimal although there was not many people when we arrived. It was a quiet Friday afternoon.

I had the crab soup which was recommended by someone I ran into at the air strip. Also had the flounder sandwich which was good, too.

Hope to visit again and try some other things on the menu.

Went for a later dinner (~1840) and was surprised by how packed it was! They seemed short-staffed but service was still attentive nonetheless. I got my food pretty quick and it was solid, no-frills seafood. The shrimp and mussels were fried well and tasted fresh. I would have really liked a sweet tea option (they only have unsweet) but other than that I have zero complaints.

Coconut Smith island layer cake. Can only get this cake regularly on Smith island or Tangier Island from what I’ve heard. Was a deliciously moist cake. And the soft shelled crabs were the best I’ve ever had in 55 years! Meaty, large, and delicious.

my friend and i visited tangier a few days ago, and one of my ‘musts’ for the trip was trying some of the famed local seafood. we only had a few hours in the island and by the time we got round to having lunch, our boat was leaving in 30min. we explained this to our server, who kindly assured us that our food would come out in a timely fashion. we got the soft shell crab platter and the Scott’s crabby fries. they came out quickly, along with to-go boxes for whatever we didn’t have time to finish. we started with the crabs, and they were EXCELLENT! fried to perfection, flavorful, so crispy and tasty! we ended up taking the fries with to snack on during the boat ride back and those were delicious as well! I’m craving both all over again back at home. I really appreciate our waitress being so understanding and friendly, and serving us so promptly. the restaurant was also extremely comfortable after a long, humid afternoon outdoors, with a nice atmosphere (not too loud, not too bright, etc). thank you for a lovely abd delicious end to our day on the island!

Excellent restaurant! You can tell the seafood is fresh! And even the fries seem to be made from scratch which are excellent by the way! The pizza is large and the large is good enough for two growing kids and be full! The Scotties fries absolutely the best! Enjoy the meal!

Really good food! I got cream of crab soup, which had curry powder and was very good. Kids tried their Mac and cheese and their fries-sidewinders, and it was perfect. We also had their crab cake sandwich and fresh coleslaw…yumm! If you are in Tangier you must go. If you are anywhere nearby, take the ferry and go eat there.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience having dinner at Lorraine’s while we were spending the weekend on Tangier Island. We tried the Tangier Island Hot Crab Dip, the Cream of Crab soup, and the Crab Cake and Softshell Crab combo. All were delicious. The big hit of the night was the softshell crab. It was cooked just right. We had a very friendly young server who didn’t mind answering our questions about the island life.

Stopped here yesterday (Friday August 24) and for awhile was the only customer. Not that this says anything bad about this place, as I came alone on my boat and all the tourists had left well past this time, but it definitely showed a sense of “small town” appeal. There was a waitress who took my order, and an older lady who was doing most of the cooking (I wonder if she was Lorraine?). Both came to my table several times, so it was more of a community effort to serve me instead of one waitress; I kind of liked it. Very hospitable people and pleasant to speak with. The soda was all canned, but was affordable, so I ordered several. I ordered fried clams and a burger. They are known for seafood, so I cannot speak for that, but the burger was pretty good. The clams were good, but very similar to every other fried clam I’ve ordered at any other place. The location was clean and pleasant. It is what it is for a small island like this. They do accept debit/ credit cards, something not offered on much of the island. I will return someday.

How can a seafood restaurant have the WORST crabcakes I have ever had? 18.95 and not even a side included. It was all filler, no seasoning and not a lump of crab to be seen. The special was a crabcake sandwich and a cup of soup for 25.50. After I ordered I realized it was the exact same price seperately. How is that a special? The creamy crab soup was watery, had 2 pieces of crab and barely lukewarm. No sense complaining because tourists on the ferry are in a rush to
eat and the food takes a while to come out. I hope the rest of the menu is better but I would try the shack down the street.

Kraft macaroni and cheese is not something I expected to pay $38 for a side on the crab cake that I got from the crab capital of the world that was filled with bread. The softshell crab and coconut shrimp was good. Took 45 min on our small 2 hr window. Southern Maryland is better
