Great service and delicious food! We walked in on a Saturday night and were able to get seats at the bar. The dishes felt family-style, food is fresh, flavorful, and served warm. Would definitely visit again.

The owner and staff were so friendly and helpful with information for my trip. I had the pepperoni pizza and garlic bread with cheese, both were absolutely amazing! My food tasted so fresh, and the homemade marinara was phenomenal—rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The crust on the pizza was perfect, and the garlic bread had just the right amount of cheese and seasoning. Such a wonderful spot in Kīlauea—highly recommend!!

We had a wonderful meals here last night…good service in spite of it being crowded and excellent food and wine. We had the house salad and the meatball and pesto pastas and it was all delicious! The owner is friendly and makes the atmosphere warm and inviting. I would highly recommend!

Our best meal in Kauai. We went on a busy night without a reservation and the restaurant still squeezed us in. Half of the restaurant was locals hanging out and enjoying wine and a good vibe.

The small team at the restaurant works incredibly hard and makes everything fresh with local ingredients. We enjoyed every dish and our wine. Ironically, reminded us of one of our favorite restaurants in Los Angeles but with a local menu.

Overall very good experience. Would recommend.

This was a surprise: unassuming & understated storefront exterior but exceptional food and service. We had the fresh New Zealand salmon and it was incredible, perhaps a ‘best ever’. Service was tops. Asian salad with a light house dressing was a perfect combination. Thanks Palate for the memorable experience!

I enjoyed my early dinner here yesterday. I had the pasta of the day (Mushrooms + Feta) and a red wine flight. I couldn’t help but snap a few pics of my bowl and the charcuterie board for the table next to me. The service was attentive, I liked watching the chefs lovingly make their dishes!

Came here on our honeymoon. While extremely expensive it was worth every penny. We got the steak special and a flatbread. The wine I got (photo) was one of the best Spanish Tempranillo’s I’ve ever had. Really a special treat and the food was exceptional. They had one server for the whole restaurant who was doing an incredible job as well.

Stopped in here alone, a group of very friendly people & the servers welcomed me to join them. Had a great time! Awesome chocolate mousse with fresh strawberries & vanilla bean whipped cream. Great wine selection. It’s become a regular place for me. The chef’s soups are hearty, everything I’ve tried is tasty. Highly recommend.

We are regulars to Kapaa. We ate here 5 weeks in a row. Sara, Bob and Pat are the absolute best! The food is innovative and absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend everyone put Palate on their “must-do” list of places to dine in Kīlauea!

We’ve been to Palate before and really enjoyed it, but had a very odd experience at this tiny place last night. We had a 7:00 reservation and arrived on time, but there were no open tables. Not a big deal, the server told us she’d move a spare table to the middle of the room for us. Took about 10 minutes for her to do that, still no big deal, and she brought water and menus at the same time. No word of welcome or “I’ll be back shortly” or anything like that. She seemed somewhat bothered, but they appeared busy so we understood. Strangely, though, for the next 20 minutes the server did not return to the dining area and the owner stayed planted behind the bar, chatting with a couple of customers there. After a while I leaned over from our table and asked her if there was a wine menu? She handed me one but said nothing and went right back behind the bar. A person who appeared to be the chef occasionally delivered food to tables and seemed friendly. Eventually, the owner began helping her and came over to us with a salad and asked if we’d ordered it. We said that we hadn’t and that no one had actually been to our table yet. She then inexplicably removed the wine list she’d just given me as well as my menu, but left my husband’s menu. She tried to deliver the salad to another table where a couple had been waiting for a flatbread for about 25 minutes after they’d finished their salads, which they brought to her attention. This was the 30-minute point for us and when we realized something was really amiss. We called the owner over from her spot behind the bar where she had returned, and explained calmly that we were leaving as they seemed to be a bit overwhelmed. She said, “I’m sorry you feel that way,” and offered to prepare something for us to take away, but it was kinda too late. It was really a shame; we’d liked to have dined there again but probably wont be back after this experience.
