I absolutely love this ice cream shop! The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff are incredibly kind and friendly, and the service is always excellent. You can really tell they care about their customers. The ice cream is delicious with so many great flavors to choose from. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a sweet treat and a great experience!

One of the things that really stands out is the owner, Alma. She is a strong local businesswoman of Hispanic background who is deeply involved in her shop and clearly takes pride in what she offers. Alma personally makes the popsicles, ice creams, juices, and aguas frescas, and the care that goes into them shows in the quality.
Just as important is the customer service. Alma genuinely takes the time to get to know her customers and the local community. She’s warm, patient, and welcoming, and you can tell she values the people who walk through her door.
I’ve ordered the horchata, jamaica, tamarindo juice, ice cream, elote, and tamales, and everything has been consistently satisfying. The ice cream is especially delicious — creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. The aguas frescas taste fresh and well-balanced: the horchata is comforting, the jamaica has a nice tartness, and the tamarindo has real depth of flavor. The elote is generous and well-seasoned. The tamales are moist, flavorful, generously filled, and appreciated for being pork-free.
I actually drive 20 minutes out of my way just to visit La Michoacana Tropical because the quality is that good. That says a lot about how much I trust and enjoy what Alma offers.
This isn’t a chain or a mass-produced operation. Many items are made fresh, and when it’s busy, a little patience goes a long way. In my experience, the focus here is on quality, authenticity, and genuine care rather than rushing.
If you’re looking for authentic treats, excellent service, and a business that truly supports its local community, La Michoacana Tropical is absolutely worth visiting. I’m happy to continue supporting Alma and her business and highly recommend others do the same.

Every time I come here I have the best experience. The staff is so warm, friendly, and genuinely sweet. It feels like they truly enjoy what they do. And the ice cream is absolutely delicious. I cannot recommend it enough!!!

Went there this weekend because we didn’t want to drive +20 min to the michoacana in Bolingbrook trying to give this paleteria a second chance. Long story short, the attitude wasn’t the nicest, I ordered an esquimal paleta and instead what I got was a chocolate covered paleta with a couple coconut flakes. An elote that pretty much was half a cup and chetos con queso that had very little cheese. The first time we went there I also ordered a banana split which honestly was a laugh in the face. It had a whole banana the way it’s supposed to be however the three ice cream scoops were literally 1/2 a scoop. The wheap cream it had seemed like it was a line and a couple of sprinkles at the top. I took it because I was trying to be nice, however this second time. Can’t let it pass by. We definitely should had driven the +20 min to Bolingbrook. We are also new to romeoville, so these type of things matter. Never coming back. The product definitely doesn’t not match the pictures within their facility.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Never had such horrible experience in any paleteria, ever. Upon entering, I was greeted & asked what I would like, to which I responded “Fresas con crema, chico, porfavor” (strawberries & cream). Young lady said ok then asked what flavor I’d like…I was confused at this point because fresas con crema is only done 1 way. I thought maybe here they make them in different flavors? ♀️
So, I said “natural”. She then began to prepare the cup then asked me what else I would like & I said granola please. Normally these are topped with toppings of choice. She looked confused & said “no, what other fruit would you like besides the strawberries?”, I was completely confused because Fresas con crema is literally that, just the strawberries & cream. I reiterated that it was Fresas con crema what I had ordered. At this point, she was bothered & started giving off an unpleasant attitude. She just kept saying she knew but what other fruit I would like on it or if just the strawberries was all I wanted. Again, I was confused as to why she was asking me for more fruit on an order of Fresas con crema, so I asked her if they made those here because it clearly seemed to be a problem to her. She wouldn’t explain anything even after I asked what was the problem? All she kept saying was “umm, yes, its ok” she would look down at the cup completely confused then called over another girl worker & asked her how could she make it work? The other young lady then addressed me & said “oh, it’s because you told her you wanted the yogurt” & I said “no, I asked her for Fresas con crema & she asked me what flavor I would like, I didn’t know it was made in different flavors so I just said natural. But she keeps asking me what other fruit I would like & I keep telling her it’s Fresas con crema, so I don’t understand the issue”. She then just looked at me in a bothered way & just looked over and whispered amongst themselves. So, once again, I asked “Do you not make them?” & both just answered in a very bothered way “yes, yes, it’s ok”. I was given what you see in the pictures. From the moment it was given to me to when the whipped cream melted, it was untouched to depict exactly how lacking it was. Never had I been given such a lacking cup. Not only was it not filled with the “crema” (she used yogurt), but it was topped with whipped cream & I have never had them served with that. All paleterias I have been to always fill the cup almost to the hole on the top & never with whipped cream. I understand that some places have their own variations, but this was completely & utterly wrong. Both customer service & product were absolutely horrible. I paid 7.16+ tax for this, amongst other things. My sister in law also received a very lacking elote en vaso. Literally served like half the cup. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of that. Sadly, the most unpleasant experience I’ve ever had in any paleteria. This was Sunday evening. Buyers, beware!!!

Great customer service. The ice cream has good taste, and the services is really polite and super fast. People working in these ice cream shop are hands on and they do listen to details specially to my special guest order on my yogurt. I like to come to this michoacana with my friends.

This place is so so delicious and has endless options! The guy working there was super kind and was extra generous. I asked for extra mango and he hooked it up and even added some tajin gummy worms to my order! The mango ice cream itself was perfection! My husband ordered the strawberry yogurt with granola and it was so creamy and delicious! The place itself is so colorful and very clean, which I really appreciated. I highly recommend stopping by and supporting this business
