Overall, we were somewhat satisfied with the meal, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations. We went on Valentine’s Day and paid $99 per person for the special menu (compared to their usual $68), so we were hoping for a more elevated experience.

The biggest drawback was the pace. It felt like one of the more rushed omakase experiences I’ve had, and not in a smooth or intentional way (all courses served in ~35 mins, with almost no explaining of the dish). Service was fine, but everything moved very quickly, which made it hard to fully enjoy each course.

The food itself was good, but not amazing. Some pieces were overly heavy on the wasabi, and there seemed to be inconsistencies in portioning. The sushi rice was slightly overcooked, and a few items like the ikura leaned too sweet for my taste. Small details like that made a difference, especially at this price point.

The music also didn’t really match the atmosphere, which added to the overall disconnect.

For what we paid, the experience felt underwhelming. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it, and I’m surprised by how high the reviews are given our experience.

Came here for my birthday in the East Village and had a great experience! Chef Ricky and our server Kiki were super warm and welcoming. The omakase fish was great value and high quality, the uni and wagyu was very fresh and they were generous with the caviar. Highly recommend!

13 pieces for $69 is good price for the fish they serve but you most certainly will not be full after those 13 pieces.
Atmosphere is too old and loud and you get 1 hour to be there.
Overall, an okay experience but an omakase experience is certainly a case of you get what you pay for IMO.

What a wonderful gem in the East Village! Great value for the omakase and Sake Flight. Sushi chef and server were very friendly and attentive.

We made a reservation for our anniversary and were so pleasantly surprised with our treat at the end.

Highly recommend others give this place a try. We will definitely be coming back!

Kyuubi Restaurante in the East Village is now our favourite restaurant in all of New York. BEST SUSHI WE’VE EVER HAD !!! HONESTLY INCREDIBLE! Ricky is the best sushi chef and so hospitable – absolutely top notch ! Kiki came in especially to be with us tonight because we came to the restaurant a few nights ago and we became fast friends. The most hospitable team we’ve ever experienced and we can’t wait to come back again and again! We will tell all our friends and family ! Please come and enjoy this fabulous and one of a kind experience!

I come here (almost) every week.

When I first visited, I was treated like a familiar guest. Now, I’m welcomed as a friend.

This is a wonderful place run by wonderful people, and the sushi is absolutely delicious. Whether you’re celebrating, exploring, or just trying to get out of the house, I can offer no finer or more heartfelt recommendation than Kyuubi Omakase.

This is the best place. Get the Chef’s Special like I do, and you’ll go home very, very happy.

This place is our go to spot in the area for omakase and we’ve been to MANY many places. It’s just a relaxed, good quality, go to spot in the EV area. The sushi chef is chill and kind. The music is always nice and a great addition and the fish is AMAZING. Pretty low key spot too. Very underrated, a must try. we keep coming back so they’re doing something right. We tell everyone about it.

Was my first omakase experience and did not disappoint! I’m usually not the biggest raw fish person but the fish was top notch quality and so incredibly good.
Every dish was perfectly curated and the flavors married into the fish so incredibly well. The staff was so polite and the atmosphere was also very welcoming and calm.
Needless to say I’ll be back 🙂 thank you for this great experience!
(Didn’t get a chance to snap photos of each dish but got the dessert at the end which was mochi :))

Came across this place searching for a sushi restaurant on Google and the very positive reviews brought us here whilst visiting from London.
A bit different than what was expected but the staff were friendly and the restaurant looked clean.
The atmosphere and decor is nothing to look at as it feels quite basic. We quickly learned the main attraction is the expertly prepared sushi. The quality truly shined through and each pieces were prepared with careful consideration.
We ended up ordering every sake on the menu since the selection was extremely limited.
I believe this place would be on another level if they invest in the decor and overall atmosphere of the place. Come for the excellent food but if you’re expecting a beautifully decorated room you’ll be disappointed.
