The family of the love of my life and myself where here today and everything was 10/10 . His side is pure Costa Ricans from Hatillo and they were so happy that they have Cas juice . The flavor of the food, according to them, felt like home. The service was excellent. The girl didn’t stop asking if we were good. I ordered the Gallo pinto burrito and it was heaven in my mouth. Very good place, the decor is very pretty as well. I would definitely come back ❤️

wow! where to begin… this cozy, family-owned cafe is in the beautifully restored old train station in somerville. the service was kind and personable and the food was scratch-made and delicious. came for breakfast and we enjoyed every bite. my dad got a huge omelet and i had a section from the breakfast buffet. the use of ceramic plates and mugs was a great touch, the music was great too. there is parking available but it would also be a great place to wait for a train. will definitely be back soon!

A Hidden Gem of Authentic Costa Rican Flavor and absoulute perfection. I went to this restaurant with my family, and we all fell in love. Don Oscar’s is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why homemade food hits different. Every dish feels like it was prepared with real love and attention to detail — try the sea food soup! The flavors are fresh, authentic, and full of that comforting Costa Rican soul you can’t fake.

The variety on the menu is incredible. Whether you’re craving something hearty, something traditional, or something new, everything tastes like it came straight from a Costa Rican kitchen. You can tell nothing here is rushed or mass‑produced — it’s all truly homemade, and it shows.

And then there’s Lina. What an absolute star. She’s warm, friendly, attentive, and makes you feel like family from the moment you walk in. Her service elevates the whole experience and makes every visit feel special.

If you’re looking for authentic Costa Rican food, generous, affordable portions, and service that makes you smile, Don Oscar’s is the place. A must‑visit, every time.

This place was such an amazing find. The food was absolutely delicious and the coffee was so tasty. Seriously some of the best empanadas I’ve ever had. The employees were so kind to my kids and to us, explaining all the foods and giving us extras to taste.

We will definitely be back. I’m so excited we found this place and told all my friends about it!

I’m a Somerville local and this place has it all! Juliana was kind and patient, thank you! the coffee is phenomenal – oat milk latte for the win (made it macro friendly for me too). Can’t wait to come back and eat more!

The Cafe was easy to find. There is a parking lot within walking distance. Small cafe. About 10 tables. No wait at noon on a snowy Saturday. Food was great. Service was great. Definitely would go back.

Initially I had a hard time finding the place. Google Maps takes you to the back door where the kitchen is, so you must walk around the front.

When I entered there were a fair amount of people either ordering or waiting for an order. I was immediately greeted with “Welcome to your new favorite place”. I ordered a cheese omelet with bacon and home fries with rye toast as well as an Earl grey tea. As I sat at the table waiting for my meal there were a lot of regulars that came in and others that appeared to have never been there before.

It felt like it took no time for my meal to come out of the kitchen and arrive at my table. Everything was cooked to perfection; the portions were generous and the omelet was outstanding. I completely cleaned my plate which I don’t normally do. By the time I finished my breakfast place had cleared out briefly and I was able to take few minutes the talk to the very friendly people at the counter. I also took a look at all the pastries in the case. With a little help I decided to take a few home with me. While I don’t remember the names of everything that I brought home it was all excellent!

If you have the time I strongly recommend stopping by you won’t be disappointed… they weren’t wrong this is definitely my new favorite place I can’t wait to visit again!

I had low expectations for inside given it is at train station but apparently it was just redone and is really nice. A few tables for outside seating and a decent amount inside. Very clean. The Mano de Piedra had a decent amount of meat and was good but on pricier side considering it doesn’t come with a side. Also got this little dessert cookie thing from the counter as the presentation was impressive. Very good but $4 seems crazy considering it was so small. I’d go back but try other stuff.

Freshly made wraps and sandwiches. Liked the place in this old heritage building. Great for a summer meal when you can sit outside and enjoy the food. Not much space to eat inside so ideal for a takeaway.

Don Oscar’s is my new favorite lunch spot! We stopped in and tried the Mano de Piedra sandwich, chipotle chicken/beef/cheese empanadas, southwest chicken sandwich, chicken cutlet wrap, pan con queso and freshly squeezed juices.

We were so excited to try everything and it didn’t disappoint. The sandwiches were all made to order and extremely flavorful (especially recommend the mano de piedra).

The empanadas were hands down the best we’ve ever had. They were very crispy and all had tasty filling.

The cafe is beautifully decorated and there’s seating in the back.We can’t wait to go back and try more!
