Looking for a place to enjoy coffee drinks, pastries, and light foods? If you happen to be in the Clear Lake area and are craving these types of food and drink, a good choice of places to visit is La Mer Café.
La Mer Café looks like a small coffee shop from the outside, and I wasn’t expecting much elbow room when I pulled into the lot and walked through the door for the first time. But I quickly learned that this is a larger establishment than I first thought. There are rooms off to the right side, and they have couches and other seating. I was happy to see this, because I prefer to sit on a couch with my wife whenever I visit a coffee house.
Moving to the food and drink, I liked what I experienced at Le Mer Café. They serve pastries, like most coffee shops, plus hot sandwiches like Pesto Grilled Cheese, Pepperoni Pizza Panini, and others. They have a good assortment of coffee drinks, as expected. My favorite is their hot mocha. They serve cold drinks, too, like iced lattes, cold brew, and iced mocha. If you’re not in the mood for coffee, they serve tea, lemonade and energy drinks, among others.
Another thing I like about La Mer Café is that the hot coffee is served in an actual coffee cup. This is how I like to drink my coffee. I don’t like how some coffee shops serve hot drinks in disposable cups. Actual coffee cups not only add to the homey mood, they are also better for helping the hot coffee to cool down faster.
Coffee shops are everywhere, but they are not all created equally. La Mer Café has more to offer than meets the eye, with good tasting hot and cold drinks and a comfortable atmosphere that feels like home.

Every time we come here we leave happy! Stopped by today and got this pistachio + hazelnut chocolate croissant and let me tell you we were very sad when we finished it. Both were SO DELICIOUS!!! Their iced latte and iced mocha are our favorites…very strong which we love! 10/10

I love this place. It’s always a clean, comfortable spot and everything I’ve picked up has been delicious. Every staff member that I’ve interacted with has been very friendly and polite. The blueberry lemonade is my favorite!

The first cafe stop on our TX weekend getaway did not disappoint. I had a delicious latte with attend half and half and my wife got some iced sugar free latte concoction I couldn’t begin to explain, but they made it and she loved it.
The barista offered us some complimentary biscotti which my wife said was excellent.
The ambiance here was very pleasant. Good lighting, chess boards, multiple seating rooms. Including a love seat in one of the corners.
With options like La Mer I have no idea how vastly inferior placeslike Starbucks and Dunkin can survive. It just goes to show you that most American consumers value speed over quality.
I’ll always look for places like La Mer to visit first.

I love love this café! The coffee is way better than what you would get at Starbucks. The service is always amazing. They have plenty of cool seating with games you can play. The card shop is connected through the back so you can buy cards and have coffee and snacks! The café and restrooms are always sparkling clean! I definitely recommend going to this café!

I’m very happy with the entire experience at La Mer! The barista was as sweet and informative as can be. The protein snacks did their job and the coffee worked its magnificent wonders! This place is hands down one of the best local gems! Their iced coffee is amazing! It’s smooth, strong, and never watered down. You can really taste the quality of the beans, and they always get the flavor balance just right. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is perfect whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee to go or sitting down to relax. They have a wonderful reward program too!

I absolutely love this place. Their plain drip coffee is the best tasting around. Full bodied, full of flavor and not overly acidic. I have never had a burnt cup of coffee from them.
Their food it top notch too. It is not store bought or from a bag like so many others. I also love that the owner typically cuts down the amount of sugar used as too much sugar upsets my stomach and I can enjoy the treats from there.
The owners and employees are wonderful. I have always been greeted with a smile and they will answer all the questions I have with patience.
I started going here shortly after they opened. In all this time I have only ever had one issue and it was handled promptly, kindly and to my complete satisfaction.
