The food: somewhat edible? It was mostly terrible. The baked chicken was SUPER salty. The sausage was sliced, overcooked, dry, rubbery and greasy. Seriously, how you mess up sausage? The brown gravy had crusted over and I watched the “chef” scrape it off. The mashed potatoes were extremely dry and hardly edible, so no need for the gravy since this was a hard pass. The “pot roast” was beef sandwich slices (I think) still stacked and folded in a liquid. It felt very dry in the mouth. The broccoli was mush. The rolls were stale and hard better for a food fight than to eat. And to think we paid $25/person for this?!?

We had water to drink: ice and black floaties on 3 of 5 cups. Extra black mold for me, please.

Service: well, we saw him once while we were eating. He never passed by again. Luckily, we could snag a random person here and there to get some needed help.

The salad bar had the bare (very bare) necessities: grape tomatoes, shredded carrots, sliced cucumber. There were just a few dressings. Just so limited.

The atmosphere: well, the view into the water was nice.

I am so confused how a place that has existed for decades can seem so poorly executed. I could make that buffet rock! But year after year, this place falls short. The service feels like they couldn’t find anyone better so…. You’re hired! Just terrible service.

Save your money and your appetite, and go somewhere else.

Stopped by today in between exploring the pyramids. I don’t know why so many bad reviews. I had a wonderful experience. For only $25 per adult we were able to get the buffet, which includes free water or tea. Everything was delicious: the baked potato , RIBEYE steak, the salads, pastas, beef soup, fresh fruit! Everything was fresh and delicious. The servers were very friendly. When we were done with a plate they swiftly removed it. When we needed refills, they were there. We were seated near the window with wonderful views. For my daughter we got the Mac and cheese for $7 instead of paying $15 for the buffet for her, since I know she wouldn’t eat much I didn’t think it was worth it. Prices were good for a buffet in my opinion, because the quality and flavor is there. We spent more at Saltgrass yesterday (just for 2 adults) and not nearly as good. Only negative is the tables and chairs, need to upgrade them to something not so 1900s looking. But other than that 10/10. Oh and if you don’t want buffet you can also just order like a normal restaurant

Nothing about this restaurant is good. Food is frozen and heated up and bad. Atmosphere of the restaurant is loud and unruly. Staff is unkept and not nice. I would definitely not recommend you waste your money.

Great view of the bay and paddlewheel boat. We chose to eat off the menu, which was pricey, but you received good-sized portions for the dollar amount. Service was not that great. Waitress didn’t tend to the table as much, left empty glasses. We had a group of 8 and gratuity was already worked into the check, 22% I don’t feel that’s right and that the service was not worth the amount we all paid.

The location is good. Our server he was nice and attentive however we got the buffet and it was terrible! The fish, shrimp and tater tots over cooked, the bread was too hard I couldn’t even eat it, smash potatoes needed more milk too sticky, we didn’t even go for seconds. I believed the food is microwaved. That’s the quality. The only thing that we enjoyed was the fruit. For the price it was terrible. Spend $100 McDonalds would have been better to eat.

On Easter Sunday, 4/20/2025, I ate at The Garden Restaurant for their delicious buffet & our waitress’ name was Shy. We go to The Garden Restaurant every Thanksgiving, Christmas Day & Easter & Shy has been our waitress the last 2 times. Shy is terrific, conscientious, helpful, friendly & very accommodating. I’ve observed her at other tables she serves as well & everyone is treated in the same manner. She cares about who she is taking care of. MOODY GARDENS EXECUTIVES: if there is some form of a Manager Trainee Program, Shy should be asked to enroll in the program. Some day, she’ll make an excellent Restaurant Manager if her current traits continue & grow. Anyone going to the Garden Restaurant, should ask for Shy to serve you.
