You order at the counter. They have unique offerings you won’t find elsewhere in addition to build your own familiar sandwich. If there’s something you have your eye on for lunch, come early since they may sell out.

Thanksgiving sandwich
The Liver Wurst
We went with The Spaghetti and Karen Shoshana’s Michiana Monster. We were not disappointed.
There is also a case with baked goods. We chose the cranberry muffin and it was delicious.
The century old ambiance is a reminder of simpler small town times.
The staff were all friendly and engaging.

I absolutely loved it here! The food is delicious and fresh! And the portions are wonderful. I got the turkey club. It was very tasty and a chai tea which was so good I almost ordered another one before we left

Edit: adding more because I forgot to mention this

The staff were super friendly and even gave us suggestions on what to get because we’ve never been here before. Super kind and wonderful.

I have nothing but nice things to say and I will be recommending other people come here

What an amazing little lunch spot. Can’t wait to go back for breakfast sometime. Friendly service, good vibe, quaint space. Love to see this in the funny little town of Galien.

In a town where it seems everything else has gone out of business, Ray & Al’s is a bustling sandwich shop and bakery putting out excellent food.

We tried the liverwurst sandwich, which seemed appropriate given all the German heritage in the area. It was good, but I’d try something else next time. It’s a unique flavor profile worth trying at least once. You might love it!

The Cuban sandwich had a great, smokey flavor to it.

Macaroni salad was sweeter than we like it, but that’s just personal preference.

Baked goods were tasty – tried a chocolate donut and a gluten free brown butter oatmeal chocolate cookie. (it’d probably be even better NOT gluten free ;))

Indoor was busy but tables turned fast. There are also a handful of outdoor seating options as well.

Well done Ray & Al!

Went to Michigan to get fruit and looked online for a place to eat. Hubby found Ray and Al’s and suggested it to me for their ‘liver wurst’ sandwich (I call it braunschweiger). So, that’s what I ordered, hubby got the caprese sandwich. Both were so fresh and delicious!! Two of the best sandwiches we’ve had in a very long time! If only it weren’t so far away, I’d be here every week!

If you are nearby, go! Completely worth it

This place is an absolute gem. We’ve been twice now, and have many more trips there in the future. Pics are from both visits. All I’m reviewing specifically is my sandwich from the last visit. I will say that *everything* we’ve had has ranged from good to great. There’s no negatives at all in our experiences.

The open space is warm, friendly, “homey,” inviting. Staff if so warm, friendly, and caring. They seem to truly get what they’re there for, and deliver it so well.

Last visit, I went specifically for the highly bragged up Spaghetti Sandwich.

I was prepared to be underwhelmed. Instead, I was overwhelmed, and will be back for another. And another….. and…. yeah! This is simplicity at it’s best. A nice crispy bun, spaghetti that is cooked perfectly; just a bit of tooth left in it. The sauce was my concern, as I was expecting a gooey, dripping sandwich destroying the bun. They’ve dialed this in. Just enough moisture to make it really be a serving of spaghetti, but not so much that it ruins the sandwich experience. If you’re avoiding carbs, who cares; order one anyway and be pleasantly surprised.

Support these folks with frequent visits. You’ll be pleased. And you’ll be helping the first new business in Galien I believe in years. It’s a beautiful drive, and a totally enjoyable destination

Soooo gooood! I no longer live in the area but so many friends who do just rave about this great spot and I can understand why: fresh, fresh, fresh and carefully prepared food, warm inviting atmosphere, smiling, welcoming owners/staff. (I’m Italian, so a little suspicious about this spaghetti sandwich I’ve heard so much about — but hey, “When in Rome…”, I’ll definitely give it a whirl, twirl?…a try). Can’t wait to visit again. Thank you.

Delightful sandwich shop nestled in a quaint little village off the beaten path. Warm and friendly staff, fresh delicious menu, perfect pumpkin spice latte, and best little $1 chocolate chip cookies ever! Discover southwest Michigan at its finest this fall!

This is a hidden gem! We stumbled upon it during the U.S. 12 yard sale weekend. It seemed like the only thing open in downtown, but we are so glad we stopped. It was quite busy, but the team was friendly and helpful. We ordered 2 sandwiches to share between my husband and I and our two small children. It was more than enough. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious and the sandwiches were very well-crafted.

I definitely recommend stopping here!
